According to Brad Paisley's web site, he gets that wicked, crunchy lo-fi intro from a combination of his Crook Salsa Paisley, Mini Z amp and a Line 6 Filter Modeler. That intro haunts me. I compare hearing it to some people who say they fell in love with the guitar when they saw the Beatles perform on TV for the first time. I fall in love with the guitar all over again every time I hear the intro to The World.
My question is this... I play a Reissue Pink Paisley Tele but I do not have a Mini Z amp or Line 6 Filter Modeler. Can anyone recommend a pedal, amp, effect, etc. that can give me that same lo-fi, crunchy, playing on a vintage AM radio sound? The sound was even more apparent during his ACM Awards Show performance than the album version.
Please, someone help!!! Thanks guys.
Here's my source...

Sorry, let me clarify my question...
Is there any one thing that makes that sound more than another? Is it specifically the amp, is it the Line 6 effect or is it simply just a combination of everything?
Thanks!

Definitely the pedal that makes that weird sound, but the mini z will get you even closer.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and help. I ended up buying a Line 6 Filter Pro Studio Modeler and am almost 100% sure it's the Q Filter that gives the intro to The World that killer sound. If I would have paid more attention to Brad's song-by-song gear breakdown on his web site, I would have seen that all other songs that use crunch guitar actually say Q Filter in their listing. For some reason The World doesn't but I assume that's just an oversight. Thanks again!

You pretty much got to be able to crank your RXES/RXJR up to 10 on the volume, and even then on most of the album he was putting a Keeley Modded TS9 in front of it. -edwin

I can get close with an Electro-Harmonix Micro Q-tron. So I suppose any envelope filter would work. You just have to get it set in the right range with not too much sweep and the right sensitivity to your picking.

oh, and having a good bit of hair on your amp as well. Which is basically what the mini Z cranked up accomplishes. I used a tube screamer copy to accomplish this.
