I work at a Junior College in the Music Dept. and I do many things from Playing Lead Guitar for a Performing group to transcribing notes on paper for piano players(Instrumental Specialist is my title). Peavey was originated here in my home town of Meridian, MS and they endorse our performing group. So I HAVE to play a Peavey Classic 50(their best amp IMO). I just have to say that the thing that I noticed so much of a difference in between Dr Z and brand "X"(this includes VoxAC30, Fender DeVille etc) is the CLARITY!! I've only had my Maz 38 with C-Gold for a couple of months now but I'm loving the Prestine sounds out of it more and more! Just had to give a little praise to the Doc today

Set the Z behind the curtain & mic it. Pevey will be happy you make that amp sound so sweet! Seriously I've only fond memories of most every piece of pevey equip I've owned or used.

Good Idea As for Peavey they have put out some good things here and there..you just have to do so much work to get a good sound out of their PA stuff. Had to deal with this for years..

Peavey makes some excellent stuff for the money. My wife is always on me: "Sell that expensive stuff, buy a Peavey, no one will know but YOU!" Of course, ME knowing is the problem.

Naw I always thought Peavey had really great P.A. stuff...and i loved my Classic 30...first tube amp. Peavey owns Buddha Amps now sooooo maybe you could use one of those and still honor your Peavey connection....But I do love my Ghia.

I think the old Peavey tuxedo front amps sound great. Well, the amp's clean channel is great, anyway. The same goes for the PA heads. A/B one against a brand new Mackie. The Peavey is noticeably warmer. Heavier too, sadly.

Peavey's PA to me put out more of a harsher High end to my ears as opposed to say Mackie. We now have Versarays in our church and they are better than the other Peavs we had(don't remember the model). Glad everyone doesn't hate peavey stuff tho

I'm not talking about new Peavey. Referring to the old stuff with the silver aluminum strip on either side of the face, and the white, blue and grey round knobs. They weighed a ton, and the back of the amp was usually half heat-sink. Heavy.
