I am the proud owner of a Maz 18 & 38 NR heads and welcome any suggestions on a great sounding distortion pedal,I am using the OCD and it sounds good with the Z's but need something with more gain and needs to be quiet as well with a nice thick saturated sound.

I have an Emma Reezafratzitz that I use on my Maz 38 and I really love it. Lots of gain, nice crunch and super fat; very low noise as well. It's worth every cent. I also have a Dr. Scientists The Element that I really like. It sounds more compressed (to my ears at least) and less crunchy compared to the Reeza but has more gain. It's very useful especially considering all the diode and EQ options it has along with a clean blend function. Both are great pedals and I highly recommend them.

Lots of good pedals. For a big grindy distortion the MI Crunch Box is good. I use a Suhr Riot, but stuff like Tim Jauernig's Gristle King, the MI or its Joyo equivalent... heck, for THAT matter, Joyo makes a Riot clone that sounds pretty much exactly the same... all sound good.
Remember too that even lower gain pedals can deliver fairly massive grunt at live playing levels versus bedroom levels.

The visual sound jekyll and hyde was my go to distortion with my maz 38.

I play cover band stuff. Country to Metal. Barber Direct Drive and Wampler pinacle can do it all. Maz 38.

I wish some of these newer pedals had been available when I had my Maz. They would have sounded killer through it.

It is no secret that if you start with a good pedal friendly amp you will get a good sound with some decent pedals, the Maz 38 is a great foundation to great sounds.
