Was just wondering what kind of overdrive pedal you guys are using with your Z Wrecks. Or do you just crank her up and go for it?

No overdrive pedals....just an AirBrake if needed Keith Agreed. I find that if you use an OD pedal with the amp when it's pure clean, it doesnt sound great. With the amp natually overdriving just slightly, adding a little od is fine. (I prefer the Wample Paisley myelf!) But get that amp past 12 oclock and the amp produces a nice saturated tuve overdrive....and for most humans, you will need an attenuator or a brick wall bewtween you and the amp to do that! J5

I agree with you guys. I use the Air Brake to keep the volume down and prefer the sound of the cranked amp overdrive tonpedals. There is certainly a sweet spot when the speakers start moving air. Anything below that volume sounds thin.

Back from the beach. Playing an event this week. There are some other people at this deal who can play too. So I took the time time to get my pedals into a config that is about doing some work. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight and all that. Plus, it's about time.
So here is where it's at today.
Everything is on it's own loop, (so full bypass is full bypass) except the verb which sounds a lot better at the end of the chain than anywhere else. The Tech 21 pedal gives sustain/overdrive that has a controllable amount of gain.

Because I switch between a Tele and a Ric 12 I usually keep my Wreck at about 11 o'clock on the VOL to maintain a clean Ric sound and use a Timmy for some OD bite with the Tele. I do sometimes crank it up to around 2p when I've got the Tele strapped on.

Every time I try a pedal with any amp, I end up taking it outta the circuit, cause they all sound waaaaaayyyyyy better with the natural overdrive of turning the friggin' amp up, especially these Z amps and especially the Remedy or the Wreck. With this Z Wreck and an Air Brake, I can get ANY amount of clean to full-on-nasty overdrive I want with a simple twist of the volume knob, and it just sounds so great straight into the amp! Different guitar? Different volume setting. It's all very simple.
We don't need no stinkin' pedals!

Cobra Drive prototype for really fat stuff and a Lovepedal Kalamazoo for the lighter stuff. I run the amp vol 9:30, treb 2:30, bass 1:00, and pres 4:00. On the clean side with just a touch of breakup when hit hard.
