....would you say the overall volume levels are similar? Or does the difference in voicing make the Wreck seem louder? Or the other way around? Here's my dilemma. I love the Ray. A LOT. I have tried and owned a ton of other amps. I can live the rest of my life happily with the tones of my Ray and a Shiba pedal and a delay and never get tired of it. Problem is, I have terrible GAS. AND, I believe in having 2 amps that I love - one for back up just in case - but also of a slightly different flavor. SO, I'm thinking a Wreck might just be the perfect second (or first?) amp for me. Now, when I play my Ray, I plug into the high input and set the volume usually around 10:00 or so (juuuuuuuust on the precipice of hair) and push it with the Shiba for any kind of dirt I'm needing (it's actually a pretty versatile OD that way). As you know, the Ray just gets dirtier up the dial and not really "louder" per se. SO, just curious how the Wreck compares over all volume wise with the Ray. Maybe I could get by with ONLY a delay pedal wth this amp. Appreciate your thoughts.

I have both. They're pretty similar, volume-wise. Tone-wise, two different beasts, for me at least. Seems to me that the Ray has a fatter bottom & high cleans, without a lot of middle. The Wreck suits me better. More of an overall mid-blend. Still chimey though. It's tone just suits my ear better. I've actually stopped using the Ray for the most part and just use the Wreck these days. Hope this helps you out. MeZadude

If you like the Ray, then you like the sound of an AC30 , to my ears, and so I think you'll love the Wreck. I love the sound of all three of these amps and although they are all a little different, they are all in the same ball park. Heck, all the AC30's sound different to me, too! What you get with the Wreck is the ability to get about as much nazz as you want outta the amp, and you can do this and control the volume with an Air Brake, and really it relieves the need of using a fuzz pedal, which means all your tone is from the amp!
