Just doodling with the VVR on 10% volume but the amp set at 2:00 2:00 2:00 settings. You RT66 guys know those settings can knock down walls. I think you can hear the overdrive that comes out when you turn this thing up. Cool thing is you can turn up the VVR to whatever volume you want and get the same tones on stage. Pardon the picking ... apparently none of the mods can do anything about that ... Hope to get some live clips if I can get a jam soon.

Sounding good, Doveman.
I want a Route 66 so bad but it just never seems to be in the cards. Someday...
Enjoy that tone, Eddie

This rig is really working for me now ... glad I kept working on the amp until it suited my playing style.

Enjoyed your playing! Great tone too! I played a Route 66 today. I'm already plotting and scheming.

Thanks for the comments. When I made the video and the post I thought it might stand out as almost nobody would consider a RT66 a "bedroom" amp. In fact, seems like if there's any criticism around the RT66 it's likely that it's too loud at gigs. I think I might have had the same feeling ... although I haven't had the opportunity to gig with it.
But the VVR has let me set it like I think I would at gigs ... then turn it all the way down. My guess is I might run it on about 7 on the VVR at a jam or gig. Someday ... I'll get a chance to capture it live on MP3 or video and will come back and share. But for now ... I think she's just about right.

Variable Voltage Reduction. Basically, reduces voltage to the whole amp reducing amp volume as much as 90% with the same tone. Way better than any attenuator to me ... I have a Brake Lite. Here's another thread with pix and clips ... other info ... even my struggles since nobody else seems to have done this to a Dr Z. ztalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=route&action=display&thread=49294

Now THAT is something I could enjoy on my Z28 - or any other Z comem to think of it. Is this the way 65amps does it?
I would happily pay an upgrade cost for this as a factory fit mod on say, a Remedy, or a KT45 , or indeed a Route 66!!
It is WAY beyond my electronics skills, but maybe a good amp tech could fit one for me at a reasonable cost. Must check that out over here in the UK.........

I think 65 amps probably does something similar. There are a few ways to do this but they are all doing roughly the same thing. The circuits I'm using work up to 50 watts. All my amps are between 30w-40w. The parts cost me $32 on the tweed and $52 on the RT66 ... so fairly cheap. It's not a difficult mod if the tech knows what to do ... but I think more amps will begin coming out with this stock ... it's just too good to pass up. Sara Richter added it as a factory mod for her tweed Richter Supra-Luxe after working with me on that one. I forget what she calls it.
Thanks on the tone ... if it has the growl and that tone when I finally get to jam with it, I will be satisfied. So ... I was a bit disappointed at first ... now I'm happy with it. Learned a bit more about amps and got an amp that matches my needs. It's all good.
