I'm hearing he used a Maz8 all over this album?? If so, I WANT ONE! ;D
He's getting the best tones, well, ever IMHO! I didn't like the tones he was getting on the last Eagles album, but that's probably down to production values etc. On this album however - YES!
(it helps when you have an excellent guitarist as a producer - Jeff Lynne!)
Anyone know any details?

The Doc said he is using a 10 year old Maz 38 that he built for him on the tour. Not sure on the CD. He did use a Maz 8 on a re-recording of Funk 49 for the James gang again according to the good Dr himself.

Joe is my hero!
I've become so accustomed to his tone.
The other day, my wife and I were in her car listening to the Sat Radio.
One of the easy listening songs of the 70's came on called "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson. I was barely listening until the slide guitar solo came on. I thought it sounded familiar, but it was over before I really got to listen closely.
Well, the song ended on a slide solo, and it hit me that it sounded like Joe.
I did some Google research, and it turns out that he did play guitar on that album!
I sure wish I could get that tone. A Dr. Z amp sure would help, but I'd have to play a hell of a lot better than I do right now too.
