What gives? If only I had a Z-Wreck....I'd probably post everyday. If anyone is tired of theirs and wants to sell it to me for $1500, then sign me up. ;D

I think that's the problem... when ppl get one they tend to drop off the face of the planet.

Haven't plugged mine in for about 2 to 3 months In all fairness, the weather has been pretty good so I don't spend as much time with the gear this time of year (any chance I get I'm on the motorcycle). As well, I did recently get a killer Route 66 that saw some play time and I rotate all of my amps in and out of circulation pretty regularly. Also, even when I'm playing it...I just play it and don't really see any reason to post about it. It's a killer amp, what else is there to say ;D (ps...my brother in law is coming to visit in a couple weeks and he loves the amp. I'm sure it will get a good three-week workout at that time ) Keith

I find the ebb and flow of z discussions fascinating.
New stuff always gets the most discussion going.

^^^ Very true. The Z Wreck is definitely NOT a fly-by-night amplifier. Although, I have played "Fly By Night" through it! ;D I too have been wanting to talk about the 'Wreck a little more but don't want to talk to myself,,,lol... It will flow back this way sooner or later.

been using mine as a recording tool, typically mixed with a dumbley style amp - one for rhythms, the other for leads (which is which depends on what the song seems to want). yumminess abounds.

I've been playing bass guitar for the past several months so my Wreck has been patiently waiting for a night on the town.

Good responses. If I had one, then I might be inclined to post less than I do now (which isn't much anyway). Sure wish I could spring for one right now, but I've got a few other things to do before I can drop $2700 on a head. I need to make more money!

Took the Wreck for a walk last week. It filled the room with amazing tone.
This week because of the different situation and room, I have to use the Mesa Studio22+. It is a good amp but.......
ZWreck is to Mesa 22+ as Racehorse is to Mule.

Hey, I've got a Mesa Studio 22+ also. Not a bad little amp, but it gets zero use these days.
I have to admit I'm still a little in awe of the Wreck. It exposes my playing flaws without mercy. Have to be in the right mood to fire it up. But there's not much new to add to the discussion: it's still just magnificent, esp. with a Tele.

(Ed Mcmahon voice here) Dr. Ice you are correct, Sir. (Ed Mcmahon voice off)
This amp is all about revealing what you play - not about pasting some "cool sound" over what you do.
So if you what you do is deficient - It's going to sound very deficient through a Zwreck.
If you've got "touch" it will let it shine through better than any amp I ever heard. If you don't have any touch, it puts your lack of touch naked on a billboard 40 ft wide with halogen lights on.
That's the scary part and the thrill.
OK, the guitar zen moment is done. Next zenspeak is scheduled for later this evening. Please check your local listings.

My Wreck has had to be moved out of my main room because I have a new kitten. She is still learning what she can and can't climb on, so I've put it out of harms way. My last cat was perfect, he never climbed on any amplifiers or touched my guitars, but he liked listening to them. He even put in an appearance on an album doing some purring.

I started using mine as a backup for my original Rx. It saved my but on a gig and was really diggin' it but it too has a demon so it's in the shop. Probably a tube or component issue but didn't want to take a chance so in for a checkup. I have to say that when I get it back it will be going out on a regular basis.

Played mine a bunch yesterday with the Collings 290. Sounded mighty fine. Even with the Air Brake on 4 clicks and sometimes on Bedroom.

I gotta say, Don at the Z shop is a trooper and a gent. Ran my amp for three days without giving up and may have found the ghost. So far looks like an input jack and I've got my fingers crossed. kudos to you Don and thank you, keep up the great work.

I've played two different Z-Wrecks at my local dealer, and I'm still intimidated by this amp. It demands so much, and really gets up and goes fast.

There's not much more to say about it I guess...it is purely perfect. I've had no issues with mine yet and it still delivers, puts a smile on my face every time i plug straight in. and thats pretty much it... lol I do think the price is a big issue with this amp....its the "lamborghini" of Z amps I guess...and not everyone is willing to shell out that kind of money for one...so they in turn cannot comment on the amp to a certain extent....and as they may lust for one they steer clear of this section to avoid the extreme GAS! lol Just kidding...I wish everyone had one....or at least could play one to see for themselves. happy happy joy joy!

Well, this will make me a bit more transparent since the "p" word came up (price). I REALLY want a Z-Wreck, but I don't have $2700 laying around for a head. Sure, I could trade some of my other stuff and get that much dough out if I had to, but that's a tough decision. I'd likely have to give up a minty 2010 Ghia head, 2006 MAZ 38 NR head, and my "new" 2011 Route 66 head to get the scratch. I can't live without my MAZ 38 NR. The Ghia speaks for itself...that amp has made me a better player, and it gets most of my time at home. We'll have to see what the Route 66 does for me...I'm finding the KT66's tame some of the brightness that I typically fight in my other amps, and still sounds great at moderate gig levels. If I was seeing Z-Wreck heads floating around for $1800 or so, then I'd undoubtedly grab one somehow by selling something. The problem is that there aren't any that I've seen + I really want to support the Doc and buy "new." I realize that the Dr. Z guys don't benefit from amps being recycled around on the used market. I believe in those guys, and want to support them as best I can (beyond the continual goodwill I provide). So...I'm not sure when I can swing that purchase for a while. Somewhat depressing. Pardon the whining. Life will still go on if I don't get a Z-Wreck....and as long as I have atleast one Z to play with, then I'll be content (I promise). I only have Z amps (no others). Staying loyal to the Z-clan.

I still play thru the Wreck some nearly every time I play and every time I am just insanely pleased with the sound, whether I have the Air brake on "bedroom" or on 0. The danged thang just does what I want from an amp on any kinda tune with any kinda guitar. Usually leave the tone knobs set on my favorite setting of the day and then dial the volume to get clean vs crunch depending on the song/guitar and the amp sings like silver every time. Mostly play it through a 2-12 with G12H30 and Vintage 30. To me sounds best that way. Heavenly. Could not survive without it.

Of course mine had to be the first with some serious issues but Don kept at it and made it sound amazing. Looks like I ended up with a flaky power transformer that would get weird once and awhile. I took it to a gig the day after I got it back and it sounded great for the first set but I had to try my Komet Songwriter for the second set. It lasted about three songs before I switched back to the Wreck. The Wreck just sounded so much sweeter so I used it for the last 3 sets. I also used it for a Sat night gig and church Sun morning. I am very happy with this amp right now through a Thiele cab with a single Gold. I can't wait till I have a gig where I can use the Wreck cab to get the whole experience.

"the amp sings like silver every time" That is a great line Gotmojo!
I got to stretch out on the wreck last week. I played for four hours outdoors at a Country, Country/Rock event and backed up eight different singers. Well, 4 singers and 4 sangers if you get my meaning. There were some other good players there who had some serious "amp envy" which was fun. That kind of fun is a type that I haven't had since I was a teenager (way long time).
The amp sang like silver on material from 50s thru 2011. I got got to light everybody up several times and ripped off the roof during "Ain't livin long like this". What a buzz! I'll post a pic when I get some time.

Fired up the Wreck today -- the JAZ has been getting a lot of play time lately -- and it was all good. No, way better than good. An amp that sustains with guitar volume at 7 and an Air Brake on 4. Wowser!
