so i have been running a stereo set up with a deville 212 and a deville 410. i would run the 212 a bit cleaner and the 410 pretty well over driven (effects pedals, not amp OD). i would run the amps in phase for solos or big choruses or anywhere to beef up the sound (we are a three piece rock n roll band.)
last weekend i bought my first z, its a V2 mazerati 212. this amp sounds amazing and its the perfect platform for running effects. i sold the 410 and i still have the 212 but its up on CL for sale. i didn't really like the way the deville blended with the z when run in stereo and to be honest a clean boost pedal does the job for beefing up those choruses/solos etc.
at some point i'd like to get another z to run a stereo rig again, but perhaps something in a smaller configuration? i don't need another 212 thats for sure.
i'm curious to see if anyone is running a stereo set up with their z(s) and what it is they are running. maybe a carmen ghia is in my future? i don't know. my second amp would ideally have a good amount of clean headroom to use pedal OD for the boost and also for any stereo effects (delay, trem, chorus, etc). let me know what you got/would recommend!

Welcome to the forum and good ol' Z World. I'm from Chicago too, live in the burbs now. I have a V1 'rati and love it. I've read of some running a Ghia for dirty. I've ran my 'rati stereo with decent results. I have a head and Z Best and it handle things nicely. So I keep it somewhat simple. I could see it being fun and useful though.

thanks! i'm extremely stoked to own this amp. i played my first z in a studio in my old band and since then i've lusted after the stripped down vibe of a z amp. now that the mazerati is my main amp i'm sure the next several weeks of paycheck saving will go towards finding another z to get my set up going again. might be cool since i have the combo to get a head and a 1x12.

When I was playing out more regularly, I always ran a stereo rig (space permitting). I think more guys around here run A/B rigs, but a few use stereo rigs. I started out using a MAZ Jr NR head paired w/ a RXJr head. They really sounded great together. Like you w/ your Fenders, I'd set them up a little different to give a full complimentary sound. I ended up trading them off for other Zs. Other Z stereo rigs that I ran include SRZ-65 LE/Mazerati GT, SRZ-65 LE/Galaxie (probably my favorite pairing), Galaxie/Mazerati V2. I really like stereo rigs. W/ some stereo effects, or just dry, it really gives a much fuller harmonically rich sound. It's a bit of a pain lugging the extra rig, but it was well worth it in my opinion. While the Galaxie/SRZ was my favorite, the Galaxie/Mazerati V2 was a pretty cool pairing. I'd run the Galaxaie on Channel 1, but set to the point of break-up for some tweedy crunch. I'd run the Mazerati w/ the volume around 1:00-2:00 for some natural OD if I dug in hard on the strings. Rolling back the volume on the guitar would give great 6L6 and EL84 cleans. Stepping on an OD pedal would push them both into some great sustain. I'd run both of these amps w/ Airbrake attenuators to control the volume as they were set pretty loud to get the natural break-up. I'd recommend a Galaxie to pair w/ your V2 Mazerati. The Gal is a great amp in its own right (think tweed Super w/ the addition of a killer lead channel). Sadly, Doc discontinued it recently, but they show up used fairly often. Congrats on your Mazerati! And welcome to the Forum!

a 10 to 20watt amp pairs well w/ the Mazarati, ala Brad Paisley.

thanks for the insight guys. i'm slowly building the funds back up to find that other z to compliment the 'rati. rich i'm very curious about the galaxie now. there's a local shop that stocks just about every z model and i'm going to kill an afternoon playing around. i'll let you know what i come up with!
