Can anyone tell me if the Fender SCN pickups for Telecaster sound any good? Please tell me what you like and dislike about them. I hate the Fender 62 Reissue pickups I have in my Tele right now. I need a versatile set of pickups for my tele. These 62's sound way too thin, and not to mention, they feedback (the bad kind) when using higher gain applications. Thanks for the input.

I have always changed out originals PU:s - for Seymour Duncans. In my Warmoth Telecaster I have SD:s Vintage stacks for Telecaster - no hum wich is a relief. Their sound is close to Tele Vintage at least SD:s take on it. They are great PU:s.
On my Les Paul Goldtop 1969 I have Seymour Duncan:s P-90 stacks also no hum. The P-90 stacks are with 4-wire conductors., wired both in series and parallell via a DP-switch built into the volume control.
Push the volume down the PU:s are in series, more mids 2 db extra volume. Push it once more it pulls up and the PU:s are in parallell more like the single coil P-90:s. Works great.
If you don't mind single coil hum and want more push & growl from your Tele you can put a Seymour Duncan Quarter pounder in the bridge position. Really good for that extra punch in soloing.
I have no experience from those PU:s you asked about.

I have the SCN pickups in my American Deluxe Tele. They came standard in the guitar. Yes, they're much quieter than any other Tele I've played, but they don't come close to the sound of that real vintage Tele tone like my American Tellies do with the stock pickups.
Big difference tonally.

My American Deluxe Tele came with SCN's. At first I thought they were perfect, then I kept reading and hearing them referred to as 'junk', etc. It wasn't until I happened upon some Kinman's, and put them in until I fully realized how much improvement in tone could result from putting in aftermarket pickups.
I remember a local blues player & respected recording engineer (RIP Joe), who bought a brand new beautiful Fender Strat off the wall...and NEVER even plugged it in. Drove directly over to Lindy Fralin's shop and left the guitar for him to put in a set of his pickups.

Big difference tonally. +1 on that - had an American Deluxe a few years ago ... nice lookin' gee-tar, had a nice neck and fret-board ... but the sound of the noiseless pickups wasn't really what I wanted - nice to be noiseless, but the sound just didn't have the mojo. go get some Kinman's. just my .02, etc, etc, etc ....

+1 on Kinmans in a tele. They're quiet and give you that great vintage sound.
