Man do those guitars play and sound sweet! The one I tried had a sitka top w/ rosewood back and sides w/ mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard. Best sounding acoustic I've heard to date A bit pricey for my taste - used -$4900. My second fav' is the Martin HD-28v - more in my price range

Today I heard a new Martin that's made with old woods. Is it called authentic vintage or something like that? Sells for right at $5K. That thing was a big sweet cannon of a guitar. i was amazed! Haven't see a Petros yet but then I'm not an acoustic guy so I'm not looking at acoustics much.

One of the things that luthiers are doing is buying some of that old wood that has been preserved by being at the bottom of Lake MI. Some if it dates way back to the stone ages.

Bruce Petros makes amazing guitars. I was lucky enough to get #1 of 10 made of old growth Brazilian rosewood back & sides and a German spruce top. Just an incredible guitar! He and his son only make about 30 per year. Check out his web site www.petrosguitars.com I switch back & forth between Bruce's guitar and an acoustic made for me by Kathy Wingert, www.wingertguitars.com Kathy makes about 13 per year and the Cocobolo & German that she made for me is equal to Bruce's -- just a different tone. Check out the absolute best acoustics on the planet at www.dreamguitars.com They are in Weaverville, NC and Paul Heumiller is a great guy. Two of my Andersons (one sold) are on his web site now.

I have a Marc Beneteau OM in quilted birdseye that Marc custom built to my specs and I supplied the birdseye maple as well that I got from a local fellow that had a realtive in northern NB that had some lengths of this stored in a building for about 25 years . Marc is a one man operation and makes about 30 a year too . www.beneteauguitars.com . Marc trained with jean Larrivee BTW and has been building for almost 30 years . These small operation luthiers are awsome buildiers

Marc is another very good Luthier. I played one of his instruments the last time I was at Dream Guitars in June. Great tone. Working with a luthier is a great experience. I have another Wingert on order--Koa & Italian--that I should receive next August. What type of pick up did you have him install?

I didn't have a pick up installed in that one , strictly unplugged or would mike it . I've been talking with Marc about another possable guitar next year , probably a mini jumbo and I may have electronics installed in that one .
