I just got a z wreck last week and I've noticed that there seems to be a fairly present "hum" its not like a static kind of sound but more of a 60 cycle sound its not super loud and it doesn't change volume as you turn it up, i tried a power conditioner and it didn't help,Is this normal? Any suggestions if not?

I would a) make sure the chassis bolts are tight, b) make sure you have a good ground at your wall outlet, c) depending on what lights are nearby, it could be picking up lots of 60 cycle hum like you said, d) Also, and I don't mean to state the obvious here, but make sure you stand back away from the amp, say 5 to 6 feet, and see if it goes away. Lots of times, if you get too close to a tube amp with a guitar, the pickups can pickup lots of hum from the transformers. e) Preamp tubes can cause lots of hum. If you have some known good ones try replacing one at a time. Hope this gives you a few ideas.

I had the same issue with my Z Wreck and posted a thread here a while back. The Doc himself chimed in and suggested that it was probably the power tubes drifting out of spec. I changed the quad and that did the trick. Jon over at the Tubestore.com is great to deal with. Just be sure you buy 7189's and not EL84's for the Z Wreck.
