I've been gassing for that Filtertron crunch for aeons (Malcome Young, Jack White w/ the Raconteurs, etc.), but listening to the clips on the TV Jones' site of the pickup based on the old Gretsch HiLo really floored me. Does anyone have any experience with these pickups? I know their really low output but how do they crunch when boosted?

I would actually email TV Jones and describe what you want. He is great about answering emails, at least in my experience. I remember reading a review on Harmony Central where a guy basically totally trashed the TV Jones pickup he had bought and TV Jones got a hold of him (because apparently he reads the reviews of his pickups) and told the guy he wanted to make him happy. The guy ended up the the pickup he wanted and re-reviewed his new TV Jones pickup with a glowing review. To me that is true customer service.

The Hilotron is a single coil Filtertron more or less. I think they are very cool, but very different

Honestly if you're after a filtertron crunch you might just want to go with a filtertron. I have TV Classics in my annie and they sound great clean or dirty.
