Hey guys,
So, long story short, I've been a Mesa Boogie guy for the past 3 or 4 years. I got a Mark V pretty much the day it came out, and so far have loved it.
Fast forward to now - as I'm playing in church more, I'm realizing that I'm using my clean channel with my OCD a lot more than anything else! Needless to say, my Mark V is on eBay right now with about a day left in the auction.
I found someone with a Maz 38sr with reverb anniversary edition. Problem is, it doesn't have a loop or the foot switchable mod that the new ones have. He is asking 1000 for it, but I'm wondering if I should wait and get a new one, or if the loop and mod are worth the extra 6-900 bucks? I definitely plan on getting a Z, and preferably I'd like the Maz 38sr in a head or 2x12 combo. What do you guys think?

My 2004 had none of the mods. I don't know how much better they make the amp, but I think they are all standard features as of now. My 38 was perfect w/out them. Jmho.

Same here. I have a 2002 model. I dont know what the new mods sound like, but I do know that my amp sounds incredible. Best tone I have heard in a long time.

I have a Maz 38 NR I purchased brand new in February and the loop sucked all the tone out. I run straight into the front of the amp and it sounds good to me (salesman at Humbucker Music also said he does the same). If you plan on using the loop then buy a good buffer for it since it is an unbuffered loop (not sure the reasoning behind an unbuffered loop to be honest).

Welcome!
The tone will be great regardless of the model year.
Effects loops? Meh. As for the tone bypass mod, you could always have it done later if you feel you need it!

For a long time I ran all my time based pedals through my effects loop and my overdrives etc through the front of the amp, this was when I was using a Fender Hot Rod Deviile, now with my Maz 38 and 18 NR head I am running all my pedals through the front and it sounds perfect!
