Anyone using the Zoom unit for recording performances? I'm having a hell of a time getting help from Zoom. The 2 GB card that came with it works fine, but when I order an approved SD card with more storage, it records for a max of TWO MINUTES and then messages as full.
I just bought a 32 GB Sandisk (the brand that came with the unit) and wanted to know how anyone else here sets themselves up for recording with larger storage cards. Should I not format the card when the recorder prompts? I suspect that that may be where I'm fouling up....
Thoughts?

I would think that you have to format the card for sure...also, make sure you have all the software on the new card that came on the stock card...I think there are instructions in the manual for doing so...other than that, I am not 100% sure. I have no problems with my normal Q3...when I ordered it, it came with a larger card...I just followed the instructions and installed the card with no issues at all. It could be the card itself is faulty?

I don't know anything specific about your device, but I have a variety of electronics here that use SD media. Some won't accept a card larger than 4GB. You need to make sure you have the right media for your device.

There is a 4gig limit with FAT32 this may come into play here.

If there's data on the 2 GB card, how do I transfer the data from one card to the other? There's some stuff in the manual about transferring data, but not sure if that's hard coded into the Zoom itself or what...

My zoom H2 may be different, but I don't remember having to do anything more than copying the root file and pasting it into the new card. I need the original card for updates. Then I copy and paste the updates into the root file of the new card.
I don't know if any of that info will help as this may be a discussion of apples and oranges.

This probably sounds dumb as hell, but can I connect the zoom to my computer, read it as outboard storage, copy the files, swap the new SD in, then just drag and drop the files into the Zoom again?

Okay. I got it to fo what I wanted. The key was to have the firmware, and NOT to format the SD. Connect to the computer so it reads an F drive, and just drag the firmware onto the unformatted disk. So far it's recorded far beyond the 2 minute limit.

You have to connect the device, copy the firmware and load that on the new card...it's a P.I.T.A. at times but hopefully this will solve your problems and you will be recording all kinds of great stuff!

That's pretty much what I do. Here's the link to the update page. www.zoom.co.jp/downloads/h2/software/I just follow the directions on the page. I have to have the power supply connected (not batteries) while performing the update. The Zoom is connected to the computer using USB hook up. Hope that helps. Here is your update page. www.zoom.co.jp/downloads/q3hd/software/
