Wel I was gonna convert my Am Deluxe Strat to a HSS setup, until I was shamed by BW's quote "it ain't a strat if its got a 'bucker in it." I've heard and played a Fralin SP43 in the bridge of a friends strat, but only briefly. Seems to cover both of the S/C and HB bases pretty well. Anyone else got more extensive experience with them?

I've loaded Steel Pole 43's in every Strat here.....along with Vintage Hots in the Neck and Middle. I can't imagine a better sounding, more usable Bridge Pick-up available. Lindy says it's wound almost like a P-90.....I'd agree it does sound similar.
Here's the true test for me.... My kid has only Les Pauls and Strats. He lives on the 3rd floor of our house. He plays quite a bit and many times I can't tell whether he's using the Bridge on either a Strat or Les Paul. So...I'll walk up stairs just to see which guitar's bridge is honkin'. Many times it will be a Strat...(through a MAZ Junior).
The Steel Pole 43 is a Clear, Mid-Range, Honkin' Pick-up. Can't beat it! Mark

Played a few Don Grosh Strats with the Lindy SP43 in the bridge, they sound like a cross between a hot Strat pickup and a P90. Very high output and FAT. A nice choice if that's what your looking for.

I put an SP43 in my Strat bridge position and it sounds good. Give it a try.

I also have a fralin SP43 in one of my strats. They are an excellent choice if you want to beef up your sound in the bridge position of a stratocaster which is usually fairly weak in most cases. The SP43 reads around 10k and like many have said including the manufacturer, sounds like a P90(kind of). If you don't want as much grunt, you can even go with a SP42 which is wound with 42' wire instead of 43 and you can get it custom wound a little lower to suit whatever you want. My friend has one in the bridge of his 54' relic with vintage hots in the neck and middle that he got made up from www.acmeguitarworks.com and it works really fine. Good luck and happing pickin'

My Grosh Retro Classic has the SP43/Vintage Hot/Vintage Hot set and I love it. Makes it very versatile and it still has a nice Strat quack in position 2 (or 4) whichever, bridge and middle together. The SP43 bridge and Vintage Hot neck and bridge combo is killer as well, very Filter Trony.
