I love my Z Wreck. The sweet spot for me is with the volume about 1:00. As you all know, that is pretty loud. I also tried an Airbrake which works great as well. I can get the same sound just at a lower volume.
What I found that works at even a lower volume is to use a Wampler Ecstasy overdrive on the "Crunch" setting to still maintain that Z Wreck sound, at a volume even your wife will approve of. The sound is really close to the cranked Z Wreck. It isn't perfect but it will save your expensive NOS Russian output tubes from wearing out too quickly. It will save your hearing as well. The Ecstasy is a very transparent overdrive pedal and it is very touch sensitive. Of course nothing can emulate a real tube amp but this is pretty close.
If you are playing a smaller gig and think the Z Wreck may be too much then you may be able to use the Ecstasy pedal and get away with it. Mixed with a band, no one will be able to tell it is a pedal and not the tubes doing all the work.
Just an option I figured may help Y'all.

Pretty cool. Just an FYI though - your power tubes are wearing out at their maximum rate when you are not playing at all. The louder you play, the longer they last.

Yeah I use another Wampler overdrive the Paisley and love it into my Wreck! Another nice pedal is Lovepedal Les Lius.
