I'm a new wreck owner and have a question about cabs. I gigged my amp last nite playing a tele and les paul straight in using my volume knob for cleans and distortion..sounded great but was wondering if it could be better. My current cab is a germino open back which is a very high quality cab with a blue and a g12h30 running at 8 ohms. Is there an audible difference between an 8 ohm cab and a 16 ohm cab? I've always had 8...the stock wreck comes with a 16 ohm cab....just wondering.

I doubt you'll hear any difference between the 16 and 8 cabs. I've got a Mesa rig that I use for bigger staged gigs...it's a short stack that gives me a 4 x 12 config via two 8 ohm cabs. Sometimes I forget to reconnect the amp back to the 8ohm output after using the stack set up (which uses the two 4 ohm outs) and leave the one cab connected to the 4 ohm output. Mesa calls that a safe mismatch and I think it actually allows the amp to run cooler. But as far as an audible difference, there's none that I can hear, other than a bit more projection with the 4 x 12 versus the 2 x 12. Tone-wise though it's the same to my ears.

The cab you have sounds like a good one. That's a good speaker combo.

There is some subtile differences between two speakers in series and parallel. The zwreck cab is a gold and blue in series (two 8 ohm speakers). The difference is that in series the blue will fire fractions of a second after the gold. The gold must be first in that combo, otherwise you risk blowing the celestion blue.
You still have a great cab. I'm sure that the zwreck is still performing wonderfully through your cab. As stated above you will notice the bigger difference by adding a cel. Gold in combination with the blue.

this z wreck sounds great through a single 16 ohm g12h30, while i'm waiting for the z wreck cab to arrive! tons of direct sparkle, drive, and plenty of solid bass! this thing will cut through any band i've ever worked with!
