I had Schroeder Guitar Repair install a combo set of DWR Pups into my 59 Les Paul. A Goodwoods in the bridge and a Darkburst in the neck.
Picked up the guitar today and just got done playing it for over 2 hours.
Schoerder also re fretted the Les Paul, installed a Tone Pros bridge and saddle, a Buzz Feiten nut and Spurzel locking tuners.
My review:
Played through a 1969 50 watt Marshall head, 4 x 12 1970's Marshall basket weave slant cabnet.
I slipped on the glass and played Allman Brother stuff for about 40 minutes. Nothing I have played or heard other ply sounded more like Duane than the new Pups did today. Wow! The hair on my neck is still standing up! Full, rich, clean when I need it, lucius tone. When I play slide I feel the sound is from the wood on the guitar body and the Pups. I use standard tuning all the time.
When I took the slide off, the guitar started leading me. Out came Allman Brother tunes I have not played for years. Hootchie Cootchie Man, Revival, Please Call Home, Mounyain Jam and tons of other AB tunes. Do'nt Want You No More/Cross To Bear never sounded this great on my Les Paul. Played a little Clapton, Badge and some Blind Faith stuff.
I play a lot of Sanatana, Jeff Beck, CSNY, Joe Walsh etc, and I can'nt wait to hear how great the new Pups sound on all my tunes.
If you are looking for "The Ultimate Duane Allman Sound" these pick ups just nail the sound.
Thanks for making a great product. The quality of the sound far exceeds the hype I read in other reviews. Hair on the back of my neck............still standing up!

I think you mean "WCR", right? Jim Wagner's? I have a pair of Crossroads in my Epi LP and I agree with everything you said! Lovely pickups!

Solution: Put the guitar down and stop popping those blue pills like they were M & M's!

Kept all the original hardware and PU's I hope? Yes. The orginals were replaced a few years ago. Have them in a safe place. I am tone freak more than a collector. I did play the Les Paul through a buddies Stang Ray. VERY NICE! It's not the same Duane Allman sound you get through the old Marshall. I like playing my Strat through Dr. Z amps more than the Les Paul. Gives the Strat a nice chrunch and roar.

Great guy. He helped select the combo set I got. Have Lindy Fralins in my 63 Strat. Got em about a month ago. I will prbably not use stock pups on a guitar again. I am spoiled........in many ways!

I'm kind of in the camp of Fralin's myself, but I'd never replace the originals in a real 1963. That's one of the smoothest, rich and creamy PU's of all time they had in those. Very hard to duplicate, and very desired.
