I have a 1961 Les Paul Jr. , SG body. It's in great shape, no cracks or anything. Appears all original. Any vintage gurus out there got a clue what it might be worth? I am not a collector, I just really like the guitar.
Thanks! -Phil

For the best real value locally I'd drop into Fuller's Vintage on the North Loop, Ask for Gary. Later, Curt

In the Vintage Guitar 2006 price guide it's shown at about $2,500. The way things have been shooting up this year it might be another $500 - $1,000 now. Good for you! Also shows how stupid these prices are getting.

you can look around on the 'net to get the most current dealer prices from shops like LarkStreet or SolidbodyGuitars, et al. or go to gbase.com and search for your guitar which would do the same thing. this way, you'd at least get a sense of what your guitar would be worth on the retail front.

You can also contact Gruhn guitars and send them a description along with photos. They'll give you an official appraisal. I did this for my '68 Les Paul so that I could officially add it to my home insurance.

I'm guessing you are about to buy and don't want to get ripped off. Don't blame you there, but I've paid more for some guitars that I loved and refused good deals on collectible gear that I didn't love. My point is if you're not getting it to collect and you like the guitar, what's it worth to you?

No, actually I have the guitar. I've had it for 5-6 years. I love it - it was the first guitar that I fell in love with when I was a kid. But I never play it, and I am at a time in my life where the money could mean more, so I am thinking of selling it. But only if I can get a lot for it!

it depends on the condition. If it's in collector's shape with original case it's worth a bunch.
