I had only auditioned the Zwreck with a standard Drz 2-12 cab. The special cab with the Quantum Silver unit is a very much better match. The bottom end extension is completely stunning. Solid, not bloated or fake but going deeper with more detail than any amp I've owned. (The only thing that came close was a Fender Bassman 60 {1973-1975} with 2- jensen or utah 15s)
I'm offing half my pedals
The amp sounds very good through the Mesa Theil but in side by side comparison its: Racehorse (DRZ cab) vs Mule (Mesa) So, I'm hauling the 2-12 to my first performance with the amp in one week.
The "foam in place" packing is excellent but a pain in the arse to unpack. It is also impossible to reuse. This explains the packing issues detailed elsewhere on the board. If someone was going to repack this they would have to get a kit from Uline and refoam it. If you tried to ship it with the old foam it would be a disaster.
The warranty sheet is very 1950s (to me that's cool)

Cool. I'm sure you'll love that cab even more once it fully breaks in. On the packing - I've reused Z packed boxes a number of times. In fact I sent my Stingray all the way to Australia in one, sent by US Post Office no less, and it arrived in working order.

Glad you're liking your Z Wreck! It only gets better from here~ About Z packing....like Steve, I've used and reused and used again the boxes & foam many times and it's always performed flawlessly. You may need to talk to your dealer about that- Enjoy!

I was able to sell off a lot of amps from my collection....these amps are GAS curers! All the new amps that come out I just go "meh!" J5

Additionally:
I find I don't need to rely on the the neck pickup on a humbucking guitar so much to get the bottom end I'm looking for. I can use the center position with the volume slightly shaded off of the bridge pickup for a balanced sound with a more extended high end but still get the bottom end. It is a smoother sound, missing the mid bass bump that I have had to put up with to get bottom end extension and solidity.
Anxious to see what it sounds like in a 50X90 room with a 22' ceiling.

Very cool post. This has me excited as I'm selling off some gear with hopes of picking up a Z Wreck head and cab.

The first performance - comfort setting, cut at 11 o'clock, 12 bass, 1:00 treble, volume 8:30, little vibrato, little short delay (less than slap back) humbuckers.
Transparent.
The guitar got big not different. Not technicolor, glassy, warm or snappy, not cast in bronze but bigger in proportion. The overtones and dynamics are so true the amp just gets out of your way and disappears.
Worth every dime.
Played out three times so far - got my first ding - Oh well, now that bit is over.
Sizable magnetic bubble around the head, so the guitar stand goes on the other side of my bod from the amp in case the tuner isn't muted.
I'm still infatuated with the sound of the rig. Looking forward to putting it into a higher volume situation to try out that part of it. It is absolutely the best sound I've ever had.
