I bought a Sennheiser Evolution EW 172 G2 wireless system and found that it was adding "harshness" to the pedals on my board. I fiddled with it a bit, but then returned it and went right back to a cord. I was hoping that the wireless system would be completely transparent and that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and a cable.
I'd like to try one of the Shure ULSX or SLX systems, but wanted to hear what experiences you folks have had with any wireless system.

I have a Samson Airline system, about three years old. It generally works very well, but can be prone to neon interference, and sometimes a even cell phone ringing can make it buzz. I've given up playing out with it for that reason, but I do love it-the freedom feeling is great. I use it mostly for at home, or at practice. It does tend to eat batteries quickly, and is so-so interms of being well built. Maybe the system you are looking at has these issues cured, please check into it before you buy. Its really fun to use. Don't give up.

I had used the AKG Guitar Bug for a couple of years, and a month or so ago dumped it as the connection points got noisy. It's biggest plus was size, though as I mentioned inthe end noise was it's demise. Since then I've gone to the Shure ULXS4. I've giged with it twice and it seems to be fine for me. I have the receiver on a small pedal board which because of it's size has become a pain, however it does work very well.

Don, is it possible that the issue with harshness is more that the wireless is more transparent and a chord isn't?
I mean, I'm not electronics expert but I thought some chords can color your sound, (didn't Jimi, SRV and Brian May use those coiled Chords for that reason?)
Personally I like wires for everything whether its computers or guitars, so I don't know, just a thought.

I went wireless a few years back, and now I get all the bosom support I need but without the discomfort! ;D

I use the Shure ULXS14 and it works great for me. The only difference I notice between it and a good cable is the wireless is a bit brighter. Other than that, I love the freedom, and not having a cable I always have to flip out of the way.
The only caveat I have about any wireless system including IEM's is the batteries. Be prepared to buy alot of them. And to me, when the battery meter loses that first bar, I change the battery because the sound quality goes downhill in a hurry from there.
