Hello gents,
Here's one for the Fender experts, or specifically Tele freaks. I have a 74 thinline and the nut is brass. It has been painted over, the same finish color as the neck. I always assumed the neck had been resprayed at some point as I am not the original owner but my luthier looked at it and his opinion is that the neck has never been refinished and that it may have come from the factory with a brass nut as a special order? Just thought I would check to see if anyone had heard of a Tele with a factory installed brass nut.

I bet if you ask your question at www.tdpri.com/someone there will know for sure. Brass nuts were pretty popular in that time frame, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was original.

Thanks for the info! I was unaware of that Tele site until now. Looks like a great tele resource. I just registered so maybe I can get some more info about this nut. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
