I tried a few Heritage guitars this weekend and they felt and played really well from the little time I spent with them. I tried the Prospect (336) and the H140 (skinnier LP). Let me know if any of y'all have any experience with these (skydog?). I'm seriously considering moving 2 of my guitars for one of these...

I love Heritage guitars. I do not own one but a 535 is on my short list. I think they are very good guitars for the money. If you found one you really like I'd say go for it!

Resale is tough. Because of that, good to buy second-hand.

I love mine...it's beautiful, toneful, and well-playing...ful lol
Advice though is to get a Gibson like tunomatic bridge and stopbar on it. The Schaller hardware seems to be a common but minor qualm amongst owners, but it's easily remedied. Mine has a stopbar, but still has the roller bridge (going to change it soon). I would love a second one to load with TV Jones'!
Grab one if you can, although I suggest playing it first...my local vintage gear shop and Heritage dealer's been telling me they are rising in value.

I just purchased a 2004 H-535 off ebay for $1000 and could not be happier . ;D It has the traditional Gibson style bridge and plays wonderful . It has the Schaller pups and I may change those out to Seth Lovers or some Vintage 58's made by Mike Turk here in Canada . Mine is finished in a fantastic tobacco burst . I don't think Gibson can even come close to the build quality of these guitars and Heritage is well known to have excellent customer service and will make guitars right that are many years old just to maintain a good name and keep owners happy . Resale value , well that's something that's an issue with many brands not having certain names on the headstock which is stupid but true and controlled by a market filled with narrow minded individuals who wouldn't know quality if it fell on thier foot !! . If you find a good used one you cannot go wrong and I do feel these guitars will hold thier value in the long run . Great to be back guys !!...I stupidly deleted my membership while goofing with the settings . I lost my status as a full member so will have to post like hell to get back up to full member status

Very good point. I've played two, and they're OK...not stunning, but OK And my old Les Paul takes both of them to the cleaners, and goes up in value yearly. Dont buy what Gibson is...buy what is was. Both are expensive, but one is a great guitar and a better investment.
I'm saying what Billy is and a bit more maybe. Look for a good used Les Paul!

I've got a Heritage 150 CM (Les Paul copy) that I've had for about 4 years. I'm going to change the pickups this weekend to Fralins, and I have Tonepros hardware on the way.
I know Ed Roman has his supporters and detractors, but you should check out his site under the Heritage section. He used to be a huge Heritage dealer but dropped them due to incredibly bad customer support in the last few years. Check it out before you buy. If it is true it's a shame.

It's possable the bad customer support could have been due to the dealer support . Don't know what's happened there but I have heard or seen nothing to indicate that Heritage has CS issues now . Anyone got proof ?? If looking at Les Pauls look very careful and buy used as well if you can . I recently purchased a 1997 Standard and it was built fine but I keep seeing complaints of quality issues in recent models built in the last few years , hit and miss best describes getting a good one from what I understand and have seen in stores .

There's even good ones from the 70's and 60's to be had out there. You'll pay, but you'll have a good Paul.

Heritage is in my back yard. Its the old Gibson plant, with the old Gibson employees that didnt want to move with Gibson. Their good people, and are some of the same guys that made and set up the great Kalamazoo made gbisons of the 60's, on the same mills, and equipment .used to make em. Its really a custom shop, not a factory.

I bought an H-150 (Les Paul) earlier this year and it is one of the best guitars I've ever bought or played. I got it from Wolfe guitars and they custom order all there Heritages with upgraded hardware and pickups. They also have the best prices by far. Mine came with Seth Lovers and they are outstanding. Heritage also PLEK's their guitars now, so they should all be pretty consistent as far as the new ones. BTW, get one of the 2005 models if any are still available as the prices were going up for the 2006 models as per Graham at Wolfe guitars.

I've got an H140 that I bought new for $450.00 back in about 1985. It had Shaller pickups that I changed out. I played that guitar a lot back then. It's a cute little thing with a nice flamey top.

I have a 535 (think a slightly thinner 335). I customized it (wood upgrade, inlays, matching headstock and pickguard, Sperzal tuners, etc..)and paid $1770, about $400 over the stock 535. Its a great guitar, way better and less expensive then Gibby. Used, they are an incredible bargain, as they tend to go cheap-the secondary market just doesn't support them. I have heard rumors that they are having some problems, in terms of quality. All I can say is that they were great to work with( call the factory, and one of the owners answers the phone!), and you get a lot for your money. Check out the reviews on Harmony Central for a lot more details. I an very happy with my guitar, and would buy another. Good luck.
