Wondering if anyone has any experience playing or test driving a Gretsch Sparkle Jet (G6129T)? The two or so I've heard played live sounded incredible to my ears. Beautiful clean sound with a great bite when picked harder. Got me really gassing for one but I've never had the opportunity to try one out. Would work really well for a good bit of the style I currently play. Thanks.

They're great guitars. Don't let the U.S./Japan/Korea thing dissuade you. They haven't been this good of quality since pre-Baldwin years.

I'd wager the Japanese Gretsches are more consistent than the old ones ever were.

I'd wager the Japanese Gretsches are more consistent than the old ones ever were. Agreed. My cuz bought a Gretsch back in the early '70's and before five years had passed the neck had taken on a terminal twist. He paid a lot of money back then for that thing too - think it was a Country Gentleman. Sad. But the few new ones I've played all seemed to be of decent quality and sound great.
