Just picked up a Z Wreck this weekend. My buddy has an RX es and boy is he jealous. ;D The tone is well reviewed here but I tried my Dr Z attenuator, and although it does a great job controlling volume, I much prefer the tone without it. Having said that, I have a gig on Friday where I probably wont' be able to turn it up to distortion levels, but then again, I'm going to try... I like my amps LOUD-so suffers the audience. I find some pedals work great with this at lower volume. I don't like my Keeley TS with it but my vintage RAT sounds superb. I'm picking up a Zendrive today based on the reviews here. Anyone try a Suhr Riot with the Wreck? Anyway, this amp is ridiculously awesome. For the past 3 years I've been on an amp buying/selling spree with every boutique amp made; you name it, I've owned it. Lots of great ones in the bunch, with the Two Rock standing out. But This one is a keeper. Loving it with my P90's but also with my Peavey Wolfgang, and of course all my Strats.

Welcome to the Wrecking crew indeed Rockulus and Jmoore. I was about 20 the first time I went in the Arcadia Grille and had a plate of spags, Moose the bar tender (50 something basketball legend) looked across the bar at me and asked, "Is this the first time you ever been in here?" "Yes," I said. Then as he set the plate in front of me, he looked at me directly and calmly said, without a trace of irony in his voice, " Well Son, You're in for a treat." And to you fellows I say without a trace of irony in my typing, "You're in for a treat."

Update... Finally got my amp in.. dont have the cab yet though, so i ran the amp through the speaker in my MAZ 18 1x12.. My First reaction was " oh my God!" Takes all my pedals pedals extremely well (Fulltone, Rockbox x2, Modded blues driver, klon cone ect. )... But to be honest my goal is to quit using so many pedals to achieve certain tones by stacking OD pedals and start using my amps more. My issues like everybody else who play small clubs is volume. I have a brake lite on the way, guess ill give that a whirl. Im Hoping it doesnt take away from this box of golden tone!

^^^ With the Z Wreck "OMG" is not a cliche I have an Air Brake on mine. Interestingly, while I hear some slightly negative tonal effects using Z Brake Lites set to 3 or 4 on my other Z amps, the ZW with brake on 4 doesn't appear to suffer. It may be that the amp is still loud enough that I don't perceive a meaningful tone shift. Long winded way of saying yes to the Brake Lite!

Congratulations rockulus and jmoore83! Can't really add much to what's already been said by others here, except that I cannot imagine a universe in which I would sell this amp, unless it involved financial ruin. The amp is that good. Loud, but really good. Wrecking Crew??? (lol) I love it. Think I'll log off, grab my Grosh, and get Wrecked.

Thanks everybody.. Got my Z best in... saying this amp is loud is an understatement! hah. it sound Fantastic! , which may also be an understatement! I do have something negative to say (not about the amp)..about the brake lite. I got the Stand Alone version.. I dont really think it sucks tone all that much, especially on 1,2.. but when you get it up to 3,4 area i feel like i lose a lot of dynamics. Its almost like when its on 3, 4 you get one tone, whereas when the BL is not being used, i get the most dynamic, touch sensitive amp ive ever owned. Anyway, id like to run the volume around 12:30-1:00.. but its loud! I havent got to try it with the band yet, but it will be put to work saturday night..... Can anybody offer any advice on the volume? I guess there is always that option to turn down but... Id like to use the amp to its potetial.

It could be that you aren't getting the same speaker response. it's not pushing the speaker that same way at lower volumes so it may be that part of your tone that you are missing. That's one thing no attenuator will ever be able to account for. I'll admit that there are a lot of attenuators out there that will suck tone at higher attenuation levels, but i think a lot of people forget how much tone the speakers alone contribute... unless they are shopping for speakers and then they'll tell you that speakers are everything. lol

The conventional wisdom with attenuators is to set your tome at the highest level of attenuation and then back off rather than set it without attenuation and then reduce the volume. I won't go into the details of why. It's been posted before. It has to do with how your ears and brain work. Also set those tone knobs with your eyes closed when you do, so you don't worry about their position. I'd spin them out of position with my eyes closed before starting too.
