Just wanted to report that i have been getting fantastic tone using my Hamer Newport with the Maz 18jr.
I find this guitar to be the most versatile thing i have ever played. Sounds like a Gretsch, a tele, a 335......big fat and twangy with a bigsby!
Suits me for alt country, rock, blues, jazz.
Great workmanship with Hamer guitars in general, much more consistent than Gibson IMHO.
Any Hamer players around? Newports? Monaco's?

I own a Special (USA made) with Duncan P-90s. Great roots-style axe, but strings die really fast on it for some reason. Maybe because I sweat profusely when playing? hehe.
My Hamer sound to me like the very best LP jr. you've ever heard. It's got that nasal lower mid that's almost twangy on the fat strings in first position.
I've played both the Monacos and the Newports. I once played a Newport Pro Custom that would make you SWEAR it was the best Gretsch youever played. Unbelievable tone. The pickups in those things are some of the sweetest ever.
I also played a Monaco. I like these a lot, too.
But my favorite Hamer is still the Artist Korina. This guitar just sings like you wouldn't believe. Larry Carlton, eat your heart out:)

I also have a Hamer Special with P90's, it is a great blues and rock guitar, perfect for slide playing, those Duncan P90's are STRONG! The special does one thing very well as opposed to the Newport which does many things extremely well!

Wow! If those things sound HALF as good as they look.......
Anyway, my favorite thing that Hamer does is the multi-piece neck. Their necks just seems ROCK solid, and better than a comparable one-piece from Gibson and such....

Those pics are beautiful.
My x took my Hamer P-90 special and smacked a tree with it, snapping the neck where it meets the body. After tears and breakup took it to Jim Mouradian in Cambridge (the best!) and he re-attached the neck. ...........it plays now like it did the first day out of the case!
The Korean made Hamer Echotone is a great 335 type guitar (with repacement pickups!)
anyway, glad there are other Hamer lovers on the forum.
