Is was leafing through the July issue of Musician's Friend catalog and saw that Gibson is making a replica of an old Loyd Loar mandolin for the list price of $25,000.00!!! You can get it discounted with free shipping for only $23,000.00. What a deal! How much does a Steinway Grand go for these days?

I really think Gibson ( and some others ) have lost touch with reality .

Something is worth whatever someone will pay for it.....
They're only charging that because SOMEONE is paying it:)

I have seen prototypes of these mandolins and they are absolutely, positively not worth the money. You can get a varnished, deluxe F style Collings mandolin that will flat out kill any new Gibson "Lloyd Loar" mandos and compete mightily with some of the very best actual Loar era F 5's. They are still around $10,000, but, you can see, feel and HEAR every single penny in it.

I can't believe they would price something like that up that high or people buying them . One thing for sure, it's way out of my price range !! ;D

Now that's value!
