Thanks, It was about 2,400 or so. I paid in advance. It took almost three years.

3 years! I can understand it taking 1 year to make the body and one year to make the neck, but where did the other year go?! I recently cancelled an order for a guitar because it was going to take several months - I can either buy another guitar or make interest on my money...

In the Golden Days of Fender, supposedly it took about 45 minutes of actual laber per guitar. The price is right but the time is too long. You're a patient strat-cat, S. F.. Lentz says about 3 months for their guitars. I waited 6 months for my Tom Anderson. I don't think I could hang for 3 years......

Wow! That is one of the most beautiful Strats I've ever seen. Make the guitars in general-- amazing!
These long lead times factor into my decisions in this type of thing- I'm sooo impatient!
I've waited awhile for my Stang, and I can't say I'd wait a year or so for it! I'd havge to find one in a store.
I might consider waiting forever if a guitar was being made EXACTLY FOR ME-- custom everything!
Then again, I'd probably just build a partscaster and customize it that way.....
You guys who can wait so long for a guitar are obviously much more patient and mature than I am!

Well, the wait was listed at 18 months when I first ordered it. Then it went to 24 months. Then it went to over 2 years. Every time delivery seemed immenent, they went and uped the timeline on me. I sure do love it though. To my eye she's classy without being too flashy. A nice, soft, hand rubbed glow rather than a super shiny "wet" look. Bill's main business is parts and that takes up the vast majority of his time. I think he knows he's been getting a bad rap about delivery. So he really does not push the guitar sales and now he tells everyone it'll be over 2 years right up front.
As for the money, all you really have to put down is $200. So you can keep earning interest on the rest.
My advice is keep your eye out for a used one and buy it immediately when you find it. They really are that nice. It plays beautifully and sounds great thru everythin I own.
A friend of ine who has many, many guitars said it almost sounds too nice to be a strat.
BTW, I had her Plecked by Gary Brawer. I remember him commenting on how lively it is.
Thanks guys.

Very Nice, I read on his site a year or so back that it was at least 2 years so I moved on in my quest. I have bought parts, pups, etc. and they are first class.
I custom ordered one guitar, a '63 Strat copy from GVCG, the wait was not bad, seems 4 months or so, very nice fiddle but if I had played it in a store I would not have bought it, sold it off and learned my leason. FOR ME I must play the actual guitar before I buy, too many variables and I will not order a made to order guitar again. Too much anticipation = too much room for disapointment. I know right away when I pick one up if it's a keeper or not, the next guy might love or hate it but that does not matter. I'm more picky about the guit than nearly anything else, they have to speak to me.
End of rant. Curt

What's the penance for exclamation pt excess? My apologies. jh
