Who is that, Peter Frampton? Kidding of course. I've probably got some pix around from the disco days, 130 pounds and a wide lapel tux (also known as The Badge Of Shame!). Those days were great, 6 nights a week, money split 7 or 8 ways equaled an average of $140/week!

You're about right, Billy..a good week would be about 160 bucks for us back then. Playing 6 nights, and going to the same joint on the night off (1/2 price dranks, y'know...) Can't hang like that now! Curt, I wasn't the Talkbox manipulator, but my buddy Wayne Gilbert had one in an even earlier band we were in. "The Bag" by Kustom Electronics. Looked like a wineskin made outa velvet w/ a hose stickin' out of it. Funny stuff. Remember "Mindbender" by a band called Stillwater? Talkbox voice: "My daddy was a Gibson, my mama was a Fender, That's why they call me, MINDBENDER..." That same buncha guys still plays that one on every gig.

I read an interview with jeff beck, he said he was listening to the radio & heard one of the "voicebags' ...though it musta been a bootleg of him playing then he found out it was Frampton....said he never used one again ;^)

That's like George Harrison and the Coral/Dano sitar...he said he had one way before anybody else (as you can imagine) but loaned it to somebody and by the time he got it back, it was all over the radio (probably 'Hooked on a Feelin') so he never used it! This from one of the originators of cool sounds...Man, I miss just knowing George is around.

It's so nostalgic to see the Beatle videos. I wonder if there'll ever be another band like that. Personally I don't see how. Just like Louis Armstrong, Louie Jordan, Billie Holiday, Jimi Hendrix, on and on, the Beatles were a product of their time and place and those specific ingredients can't be recreated.

I like the Youtube video Zane sent me where George Martin is in the control room telling Paul, after a take of "Hey Jude", "there were some very nice vocal moments there Paul, but I don't think that was the 'one'.." I could never imagine those guys ever being less than stellar, but the "Anthology" proves that they were maybe just a 'little' like us mere mortals in that respect.

Zane........just bought the same guitar from Willcutts....... washed cherry. Traded a PRS McCarty for it, R-8 has probably 3 times the output and certainly has "that sound I grew up with" that the PRS could never emulate. My first Gibson!

Take any of our bands, put them in the studio with George Martin and see what comes out. Bet it's the best we ever produced...
