I recently purchased an '81 Gibson "The V" and I am considering a pickup change (the p'ups are not original). I really have been GASing for a set of Bare Knuckle pickups, and I believe this may be the perfect opportunity.
The V is set up like a Les Paul--mahogany body with a figured maple top, mahogany neck with an ebony fretboard. There is a lot of mahogany on this guitar, and other owners say that it has a sweeter tone because of it.
I'm looking for something that has a real smokey tone to 'em, strong but not too strong. Think Gibbon's Fandango era tone--hot, but not too hot. They also need to handle higher gain w/o feeding back (which may not be a huge issue since BKPs are all wax potted).
For the moment I'm eyeing the Black Dogs, because they are "vintage hot" that are bluesy in the neck and strong the bridge, strong enough to do metal I've heard (Although for all out metal the War Pigs can tear down houses!). Anybody have experience with Bare Knuckles, particularly the Black Dogs?
Someday I'll put in a set of Stormy Mondays in my H-535 to replace the SD '59s in there, but for now the SDs sound good.

Try some Pearly Gates-- they're fairly hot...

I got some Irish Tour Bare Knuckles on my strat and they are awesome. Most of their PU are excellent.

I've been dying to get a set for all my guitars (save the firebird). The pickups in there now are good enough for the moment. They don't say on the site, but I'm guessing that they can make pickups with cream bobbins like the V's stock pickups. I like the way it looks.
I am going to get a set of Brown Sugars when I finally get a Tele

My Hugh Manson firebird has Bare Knuckle 'Mule' at bridge and 'Mississippi Queen P90 at neck'. I like them both, the Mule delivers the Gibson tone and sweetens up as the Vol increases.
