Just went to the Reverend guitars website, and I see they are making a whole new line of affordable guitars. I have owed a Reverend Slingshot Custom with P90's for 3 years now, and it is one of the best guitars I own!! It has the best neck possible for a guitar. It feels like a well played Strat, but better! I have bought and sold a lot of gear in the past couple of years, but can not part with this one. The new line of guitars are made of wood, the old line was like the old Danelectro, with a phenolic top and back, and the mid section of the guitar was a block of wood, and the wings are hollow, making it a super light(around 5 lbs) guitar, but with great playability! So, on monday, I will be ordering a new Reverend Charger HB.....check out www.reverendguitars.com/

We actually have one of the few Reverend dealers in Kansas City. I've definitely been checking out their new Korean line with the smaller wood bodies. I'm thinking it's a good way to get a nice P-90 guitar with a 25-1/2" scale length. I've played them at the store and they play as good as any guitar and the quality is very high. You can't go wrong. take it with a grain of salt but check Harmony Centrals reviews.

Too funny Billy, when I saw they had hollow bodies with the long scale I thought of you, I could see owning a Charger, either P-90 or 'bucker.
So the play well? describle the neck profile for me....
Thx. Curt

The neck feel is generic Fender but with jumbo frets and probably a 10" or 12" radius.

Otis, please post a review of the charger HB when you get it. My next guitar is either gonna be the charger hb or warhawk HB.

After reading they are made in Korea, I am not as hot to trot. I was hoping Joe Naylor might still be building guitars, but I guess not. Too bad, he is a great designer and builder of quality stuff. I may not order new, I may wait till one pops up on Ebay in a couple of months...If I get one, I will leave a review...

Korean made doesn't bother me. They are cheap so we can't really expect them to be made in USA. The Korean made guitars I've seen lately are phenomenal bargains for the money. Very high quality, once again factoring in the $. The ones I've seen look as good as the American made guitars except for perhaps hardware but what do expect in that price? You aren't going to get a Tom Anderson or a Grosh for $500. The ebay thing might be good but buying a guitar unseen might be buying a pig in a poke (whatever a poke is!). By the way, they do still make some guitars in America.

A poke is where you find a pig, but can't get a good look at it. ;D

I have an old East point neck Reverend sling, Red, with RW board. I agree!!!! awesome neck, awesome guitar. I was lucky enough last year to grab one of Joes last Avengers. The strat style one with single coils, Flamed mohagany top and maple neck. The coolest thing is that is one of only 4 or 5, that he made with the bass contour knob. Very rare. It pays and sounds amazing as well !!

I thought a poke was a bag of some sort, or a blanket.

i bought an engine-turned 2 pickup slingshot a few years ago, very very nice toned guitar. i have no problem with the tone and playability. the problem was that the frets wore down very very quickly with just moderate play time. last year i sent it back for a fret level rather than drive a ways for a competent person. cost about 125 plus shipping both ways. for a little more you could almost buy a new neck . it appears it will play a few more years, but with this quality of frets, when they wear, the guitar is impossible to play in tune up and down the neck. that is the only only reason i might not buy another one.

I'm pretty sure they use Dunlop frets?

Yeah that is weird, i to believe they'er Dunlop. I never experienced that kind of wear, but i also have to say that it has never been My solely played guitar, so i dunno, Maybe a bad batch of wire?

I bit the bullet and bought new from Reverend, and I am happy I did, this is my post from the Carmen Ghia post, "Bright Ghia" that I started: Just installed my Weber Beam Blocker in front of the Weber Blue Dog 30 watt speaker(1x12 cab), also put my GE Jan 5751 NOS back in the V2, and a Telefunken ECC83 in the V1. I immediately noticed the amp to have a smoother tone, still has great highs, but not take your head off highs. I am sure that most of this is because of the Beam Blocker. Great idea, and product! I also was playing through the amp with my new Reverend Charger HB(humbuckers), which are their korean made line. I talked to Steve at Reverend, and he says every guitar is built to their specs, and I believe it, it is every bit as nice as my Slingshot Custom that was built by Reverend. The neck seems slightly beefier, but very close. The necks on these guitars are the best! Anyway, this guitar and my Ghia are an awesome combo! For the $$, this is a great sounding, and playing guitar, has awesome sustain too, buy one! Check out the P-90 version too...
