My 1st electric was an SG, I wish I could get one with a big ol fat neck ;^)

That is a very nice looking SG. I really don't like the old tremolo systems, though.
Zane- not to feed your GAS, but the faded SG's have a big fat neck. The fit and finish quality is pretty poor, however.
I bought one second hand (because of the fat neck), and overhauled it, polished the faded finish, bone nut, recrowned the frets, new tuners and lollar pickups. Now its a great looking and playing guitar. Cost about $1000. It's loaned out until June to a friend on tour, but I will post up some pictures when it comes back.

I read somewhere that Gibson is not Tempering the steel in the Vibrola properly, rendering it useless. My first decent guitar is a SG that I bought in 1968 or 1969 for $150. One of those narrow necks gibson used in the mid 60s. I butchered that guitar back in the early 70s. Took a hammer and chisel and put a Fender pickup in the middle. After I played 1/2 the finish off of it I had a guy refret and refinish it white. that turned out horrible. Later I had it routed for a Kahler. I ruined that poor guitar. Now it's just good to strip for parts. YOUNG GUYS! Don't alter your guitars like this. If you don't like it, get another.
