Here's my main axe. A Grosh Set Neck serial #004. I LOVE this guitar. I've been playing every paul I can and haven't found anything that sounds or feels as nice as this.

Well I've posted this elsewhere, but this is my current full boat rig with my two Grosh's: The pedal board is being revamped (again) but I'm currently using both amps via a Radial JX-2 A/B/Y box. Best sound around with both amps on and up loud!

These are the only two I've played over the last 5 years. TA Hollow T Classic, and Am Deluxe Tele...the tele gets the most playing time lately.

Strat, (MIM) that I grabbed at a Pwn Shop for $340.00, it is one heck of a fiddle, the best Strat I have owned, and that's at least 10 over the years including a big $$ GVCG custom ! Some of these guy's have heard it on a lil blues tune I recorded, straight into the Ghia ;D ! You have to play a buch of new Fenders to find a gem..but they are there. Curt

I totally agree tele62. There is a '62 reissue at Avenue guitars here in Edmonton, alberta and it is the best strat in the store, out of all of them including the Custom Shop models.

How do you like the M series pickups? I'm afraid they might be a little bright. I've played them in an Atom but haven't heard them in a longer scale guitar.

I am finding them a bit bright, I had to totally rework my set up 'cause this thing is sooo different than my other guitars. It does sit in the mix real well, is an awesome player, But I find my self wishing the bridge pup had a lil more meat, grind, edge. I like the nastier Tele bridge sounds, these are hard to get the squeels/dynamics out with, I may replace the bridge pup. But it is LIGHT and easy to play, effortless actually

Curt, I am lovin' that silver sparkle anderson! I wish I could find them around here. Have you tried the Suhr guitars? Are they comparable? I am digging Madison's anderson too. Steve your groshs look amazing. I don't think he has dealers in Canada though I wish he did. Nice rig too. The Flexi and Rati in stereo must be wild. ;D

If you see one hangin' around pick it up...then get out you $$ !! LOL Thanks, always wanted an Inca silver vintage Tele..this is as close as I can come...a lil flashy but she's a looker !

Well you all know what PRS's, Strats etc look like so heres a pic of a guitar I made way back in 1982 and still play regularly. Body is Koa (we lived in Honolulu at the time and was from a local lumber yard) - I kinda liked the funky knot hole in it! Makes you feel you are playing a bit of a real tree! Tilted back neck and badass bridge so a real mixture (or dogs breakfast!) of design styles. It is bolt-on despite appearances, made of maple and mahogany with an african ebony fingerboard. I carved the neck to feel right to me (to feel similar to a favourite Gibson accoustic I still have) and is undoubtedly the best bit of guitar making. The neck is quite wide at the nut with a very large radius fingerboard and has a brass nut (deeply unfashionable now!) behind a zero fret (they are great - why dont more guitars have zero frets?). Won't suit everyone but it makes for clean fingering at the nut end and wide bending ot the top end. Inlays and position markers are brass, copper and aluminium brazing rods! Originally it had skinny tele frets and strat style electrics (Fender neck and middle with a Seymour duncan quarter pounder at the bridge) and bristled with mini switches to get every permutation of series-parallel, in phase out of phase, with a passive mid boost. Mostly giving completely useless unuseable sounds!!! The quarter pounder allways sounded a bit honky to me as well. But straight up, the Fender neck and neck-middle positions sounded sweet. You live and learn. About 10 years ago I did some 'remodelling' of the body with the router, refretted with jumbo frets and fitted some humbuckers. Minimalist wiring (no tone control) with two Seymour Duncan 59's connected to a single volume control. A rather Z-ish approach I now realise. The sound was far better - bigger, warmer and huge sustain, retaining a nice spanky edge. Just drives the Ghia beautifully with a brightness to the sound that cuts better than my PRS.

Dave, good karma to you my friend! Nice axe. I totally respect someone who takes on the challenge of building his own guitar. Yours looks gorgeous. Love the koa and the knot on the body. I really like some of your finishing touches such as the back plate being matched to the body. It think it looks classy. It must sound incredible. Have you built any other guitars? Do you still build them?

Thanks for the kind comments! I only ever made three, all around 1980. No 1 was a sort of Les Paul with a through neck but I didnt get the truss rod design right and the neck became unuseable after several years! No 3 is a fretless bass with a similar design to No 2 with a bookmatched flame Koa top. The guitar making era was arrogance of youth, fuelled by poverty!

I've always wanted to do that, it turned out very well for you. I've always wondered how you can carve the neck with home tools, and get it so symmetrical. How did you do it?

I think I'd like a James Trussart rusty Steel Deville for my next guitar.

Easier than you think - whittle away with a spokeshave to get the basic shape, then cup some sandpaper in the left hand and play away until it feels right! It just seems to happen!

The blue Lentz looks a dream with the P90. Never seen one over here. The www.lentzguitar.com site just seems to be a forum? Is there another site to find out more?
