I finally did it, sold my PRS and my AC15TV and went for the end of the line, the Wreck. I was going to get a KT-45 and a Z 28 but I thought wait a minute you have almost enough for a Z Wreck. When will I ever have that opportunity again? Almost as excited about the cab as I am the head.
Hope I like it as much or more than the Stangray.
Thanks for taunting me for so long you guys. rp

It will prob. be along time before I have the chance again, whereas a Jr. or CG head(or combo) is not out of reach at any given time. Thanks!

Silver is definitely cool. Good luck on getting any sleep! PS: might want to go ahead and pick up a brake lite, brake lite SA or Air Brake for it.

Got a SA, love it. The first and only attenuator I've liked. Maybe it's because I learned to use it in moderation, 1 or 2 clicks.
thanks rp

Argh, they didn't ship it until today and I have to wait until Monday......Guess that will give me one more chance to try the Mazerati on Sunday.

Well I showed up at work today and found 2 big boxes with Z logo's on them. I was a bit surprised to find how badly my amp was packed. the cab was sitting directly against the box and has a scuff on one side and a small piece of tolex ripped on the other side. The head was shipped in a Z verb box complete with a verb cover, two power cords, and a foot switch for a Z verb. I am also missing both covers.
Well the good news is the amp sounds quite nice so far but I'm very distracted by the horrible packing and missing items. You would think that when you spend this kind of money on a new amp better care would be taken. Now instead of playing my new amp I have to call the dealer And try to figure something out.
wish me luck rp

Sounds like the dealer re-packed it. I saw the boxes my Z-Wreck came in - they were substantial.

(I wanted to save the box in case I moved or ever had to ship the amp so i took care not to destroy it)My cabinet was missing the cover as well but no problem getting one shipped to me. I am sure the good Dr will take care of ya! Congrats on the amp and enjoy the tone!!! J5

Thanks Jammers, it was a repack. It must have been a floor model.
The amp sounded incredible for the 10 minutes I got to play it. Sounded kind of like a cross between my Stangray and my V2 Mazerati. Might be just what I need to finally make me happy(my wife sure hopes so). I'm going to try it through my 2x12 with the G12H's pretty soon to hear it with broken in speakers. So far liking the alnico's but I think their a little bit stiff yet.
thanks guys rp

They actually have two in stock in stores in other areas of the country. However, I was weary of buying off the floor, especially when I couldnt see the amp. In the end, I could not find out if the stores with the Wrecks in stock had the original cartons. So, in that light, I had the local store order a new one from the factory. Keith

Keith Very good idea after what I'm going through. However, this amp is killer, I can't believe the difference between this cab and my Orange 2x12 with Hellatone g12h's. The Z cab with the blue and gold is just gorgeous sounding. The Wreck seems to have more headroom than my Ray, I'm gonna a/b them tomorrow. so far very happy with the sound of this amp and cab.

Well after e-mailing the dealer all day today I've decided to reluctantly send the amp back. The last straw was being told that it was unboxed for photos only and any damage was probably from shipping or from Dr Z. Personally I don't mind getting a floor or demo unit but don't lie about it and especially do not blame the Doc and his staff. It was pretty obvious it was on display because there were feet marks on the cab from the head and on the head from the Z Verb. The head was shipped in a Verb box and the cab was shipped in Maz 18 box, no wonder the accessories were missing. Anyway it was a beautiful and incredible sounding amp and we will meet again. Here is a bad photo from my phone to remember it by. Feel free to pm me with any questions about this transaction.

Sorry tp hear that. I right there with you. The Z Wreck Cost too much to be damaged. Heck any amp or gear should be in New Condition if thats the way it advertised. Hope you HAVE BETTER luck next time finding a Wreck, I just listened to the GregV Demo, He is Sick, He could make a Crate Solid State amp sound killer, But That demo was one of the best by far! Congrats again To DRZ and staff for making another Mind Blowing Tone Machine

The way Doc packs things you can pull out the amp and slide it right back in. Are you sure your missing items aren't in the padding. Usually they are hidden under that. Humbucker Music did double box the Wreck. Probably because it was such a big cab. I've had 6 new Z's delivered from them and 5 cabs. Never had anything even remotely damaged. I wouldn't be upset they unpacked my amp for pictures . But they could have taken the time to re-pack it right. Guess when you deal with places like Humbucker and Fatsound. You don't need to worry about stuff like this. If it's really damaged. You probably should let Z know that. That's definitely not except able. But do double check for your parts. I've had things I thought weren't shipped and they were packed in that foam. So look first to make sure. WRECKS IN STOCK SHIPS IMMEDIATELY www.humbuckermusic.com/drzzwreckamp.html

Seems like the head was in a Z-Verb box (different dimensions?) and the cab was in a maz 18 box (different dimensions?). I suspect the Wreck boxes got tossed out at the shop or someone just didn't take the time to look for the right boxes. Keith

Dr Z Amps are packed at the factory in the very best packing I have ever seen for an amp. There is no question that the problem you have encountered is a problem with the dealer being careless. The original Z packing is absolutely solid. You are right to complain. Are you getting a replacement from them?
