Bought one last night on the bay. Can't believe no one saw it, or were you keeping quiet? I think I may have paid a little to much for the current market but didn't think I would see one again. I was supposed to get a KT 45 I've been trying to get for the last week but the Rati seems more intriguing at the moment. Good thing I sold my PRS Friday. I really love my Stangray and have been digging my Ghia for non gigging situations so I'm hoping the Mazerati will give me the best of both worlds. I like the 2 standard preamp tubes so I can tweak the gain down to where I like it.
Fingers crossed, hope I like it rp
share your thoughts

Thanks Eric, I'm pretty stoked. Loving the Ray but I would like more headroom. I like the fact the Rati has a 12ax in V1 so I can tweak the gain. And hoping it has as much bottom end as the Ray.
Wednesday is the day, got a pretty big gig Sunday night opening for Newworldson and might give it a try. rp

I have 4 TAD EL84's, 1 RCA 5AR4 and finally 1 GE Five star and Tung-Sol 12ax7 in the preamp section. This tube compliment rules! My rati really shines when playing out so I think you'll dig it.

I'm definitly looking for more cleans. I've got a bunch of NOS RCA 12AY7's and some 5751's so I'm hoping I can clean it up a little more. I got a set of the TAD's as well that I put in my new MaxiMatcher tester and those babies are drawing a ton of current and running really hot. I need to pop them in an amp and see if they red plate. thanks mucho rp

Tried two 5751's it was cool for a nice clean headroom but went back to the original.

Also I just peeked inside and it's pretty much a V3 Ghia without the cunjuctive filter and two extra power tubes and bigger trannies. I would almost dare say exact.

I have a Stangray and a Ghia. I really like the Ray a lot, but I am wondering about the differences between the Ghia and the Mazerati.
Isn't the Mazerati basically a higher powered Ghia, or is there some extra mojo in the Maz?
Can someone describe the diff between a Mazerati V1 and V2 and why one version might be more desirable over the other?
The Ray is a pretty clean amp overall, so how does the Mazerati stack up to the EF86 preamp tubes of the Ray in comparison?
Does the Mazerati have the low end that the Ray can produce?

Congrats to you! You will find the Mazerati a pleasure to use. With only volume and tone to deal with, you will play a bit better and find the true sound is in your hands! Once you get the right speaker and tubes that you like, you'll concentrate on your songwriting and playing. I think there's a trend to try to sound good but not make the effort to where it really matters, and that's your playing! Remember...Mazerati's are seldom for sale , and theres a reason!

looks like an old thread, but just wanted to say i had my first rehearsal yesterday with the Mazerati i picked up over the weekend via craigslist.
good.lord.
this thing is amazing. i was looking for an amp that would stay clean loud as a platform for my effects. couldn't have found a better amp. its a blonde 2x12 which from what i'm finding out was a rare configuration.
up until now i've been running two devilles in stereo. one a bit cleaner, one a bit more dirty. sometimes in phase or sometimes one would be just a boost amp for solos etc.
this mazerati sounds so nice that i don't think i even need the stereo set up anymore (although now i'm probably going to get a smaller Z combo to use as a booster and for stereo effects.)
happily sold one deville at rehearsal last night and the other was put on craigslist this morning.
