All right, Ghia freaks... Should I be stoked? I bought it 'cause I knew I needed a great sounding, lower-wattage amp to add to the arsenal. Gonna pair it up initially with a Weber Silver Bell with "P12Z" specs... Time to see what all the fuss is about....

I got mine less than two weeks ago and I've had to take time off both of my day jobs and see a few specialist about my wrists and hands because I've been playing so much. You're going to have a blast. But, be careful. Some of the tests used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome are really unpleasant. :-)

I also think you'll dig it. I am dying to get another one and still regret divorcing the one I had. I liked the cleans as much as the tone I got when cranking it. I used it for a church gig and I couldn't get it loud enough to get dirty. It still sounded great. I thought the clean was beautiful.

the tone control is a thing of beautiful simplicity. you can go dark to th right and get some bassy tele treble bridge pickup or back left and use the neck pup, there is more versatility with a strat and humbuckers are way huge. using the volume knob to back off and stay works well. but many have said that about most z's. i love mine, and it is cheap to retube. got a NOS 5y3 rectifier from mike at KCA to save tubes,, but i use a small fan too. much more low end and growly than the goodsell combo i have, which is the same style, but uses a gz34 and is much more smooth voxy sounding. i dont use the goodsell much anymore. the ghia is much much louder too. for the money, the ghia is the best amp ever made.

I just picked up my Ghia last night and tried it with all my guitars. You can dial in your tone in a matter of seconds, its so easy. I needed a lower wattage amp than my 66 and couldn't decide which one to get. The Ghia is turning out to be a great choice. To get the sound out of the 66 I was happy with I had to use an RC Booster and brighter sounding power tubes. Once all that was sorted out, the 66 is an incredibly powerful and unique sounding amp. A keeper for sure. With the Ghia, however, I can just plug any of my guitars straight into it and get great tone. What an amazing amp! John

Hey Jay, love to hear your thoughts on the ghia once you've had some time. I'm seriously considering one now as our dollar has reached a 15 year high against the greenback and a ghia has become about 200 dollars cheaper in the last few months!!! I'm looking at running it with the 66 in stereo to achieve some el84 chime along with the 66 bigness, and also use it for smaller quieter gigs on its own. Have fun!

Hi Tas let me assure you- a Ghia sounds amazing to all of the Aussie ears that have listened to it or played through it. My old 65 Vibrolux Reverb (tweaked) was the old standard and was sweet and full. The Ghia through the old oxford speakers on the vibro was in some ways similar. With the Greenbacks it is very much early AC/DC when pushed with a humbucker. Used with old alnicos it is sweet and detailed. Very responsive to diff guitars and speakers. What an amp. Also easily loud enough for most stage volumes. I'd be very surprised if you weren't truly blown away! Brett

Awesome Brett, doesn't get much better than that description! I'm sure I would love it based on those details. Along with my Ulbrick 1-12 and my Z best, maybe add a 1-12 Blue and be done! That sounds like a good plan to me! ;D C'mon Mr Chance, the suspense is too suspensful! ;D

hey, guys. I've had a CRAZY last few days, flying all over the place and am leaving town again today. However, I landed yesterday and had a short rehearsal last night. I took the Ghia out of the box and straight to rehearsal with literally no time to plug into it and see how it sounded.
After turning the knob about twice in the first few minutes, I was all set.
I'm taking it with me on a week-long show that I do every year, starting today. Pit orchstra thing with moderate volume, so it'll be perfect.
I promise I'll give you a report and *hopefully* some clips around mid-week...
J
