Here's the deal, I'm a bluesy-folky player starting a 2 yr Jazz program at my local university.... weird I know, but hey, I love Jazz chords. Anyways, I need some help... which do you think is right for me? I've got single coil mexi strat, a butt-load of time to play, and an unfortunately tight wallet! b.

I'm thinking that the Ghia would be a better choice if you need to play at lower volumes for practicing. The Ghia sounds amazing at low volumes, and you can get some nice tube saturation when you turn up the volume w/out blowing away the neighbors or killing your ear-drums. I have never played a RX, but I know that they something like 45watts compared to the 18 watts of the Ghia. It might be too loud for you - but who knows Also - the Ghia is a bit easier on the wallet

thanks for the reply!
yeah, i realize there's a big diff in wattage... I'm just slightly afraid of running out of room with the Ghia.

If you want some hair on the notes without rattling the foundation of your house the Ghia will work. If you need a loud, clean jazz tone then look into the RX ES or a Maz SR. Both will do that very well and are extremely versatile amps.

I just played a gig tonight at a "jazz" club with my Maz 38 sr 1x12 combo and my Lentz. Sounded awesome! Clean and sweet.
