hey there,
just wondering, could you run a Z-wreck with just 1 of the Doc's 10" speakers? I think they're 75 watt speakers but I just wanna make sure.
thanks

Yes you could wattage wise. Not sure if it would sound very good. Probably be ok. I have ran my 2x10 with amps much bigger then the Wreck with no problem.

Jacques - they are 70watts each with an efficiency/sensitivity of over 103 dB. They are also wired for a total of 140watts...so they are loud as snot - but you already know that from your Mazerati!!! Wreck head in the works

Thanks, but i'm trying to snag a 2x10 extension cab, OR trying to get 2 of the doc's speakers, and build myself a cab. I'm gonna wire up 2 outputs, one will use both speakers for larger gigs. and the other will use just one speaker for smaller gigs. It's pretty easy to do. that way there I have both options in 1 cab. I thought that they were gonna be ok, but i just needed a second opinion. I'm trying to do all this because I "hate" using an attenuator. I tried the Airbrake and didn't like it at all... so I need smaller speakers AND less of them to try to tame the volume. and yeah, as soon as I sell some more stuff.... I'm gonna get the Z-wreck head. i thought about getting the head/cab, and I just hate lugging around a 2x12 cab. so i'm gonna try it with this option. we will see.... anybody wanna buy my stuff?!?!?!? ;D

At 103 db sensitivity, you are not going to be happy with the results. This is one of those situations in which size doesn't really matter.

Just for the record... The speakers are rated at 70 watts each, so the Cab is rated at 140 watts. The Dr's 10" speaker efficiency rating is 96.7 dB at 1w/1m. Theoretically, the 2x10 Cab's total volume should be rated at 99.7dB at 1 watt/meter. 96.7dB to start... Double the surface area for using two speakers (+3dB) = 99.7dB Total. (Understand that the +3dB thing is an approximation, not exact science.) The cone assembly is special made, ordered from England. They are assembled in-house. Basket and magnet is Eminence. The 2x10 Cab weighs 46.20 lbs. with the back in place, and 43.75 lbs. with the back panel off. You may want to know where I got my efficiency rating of 96.7 dB at 1w/1m from, on the Doc's 10" speakers... ztalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cabs&thread=34218&page=1#398260On which will be louder, hard to say without some real data. I recall Brent saying the 10"s were rated at 102 dB and the Blue is rated at 100 dB. I was under the same impression that the Z 10"s were efficient speakers. However, that is not the case. Brent emailed me their actual efficiency. It is 96.7 db at 1w/1m.
They are much less efficient than what I had originally thought. In my opinion, My Celestion Gold, rated at 100 db, overpowers them a bit. Whereas my Celestion G12-65 fits well w/ it's lower efficiency. The Blue might be a little much paired w/ the Z 10"s. But as you stated, Jan, the pair of 10"s may increase the perceived dbs.
