Hi all!
Just played through a Z-Wreck (Silver) at my local dealer. Great amp!! I used my Les Paul Standard (With Lollars) and I was very impressed with the gain I was getting out of the amp. My questions are as follows:
Is anyone using a Les Paul as their main guitar through the Z-Wreck...and what kind of pedals are you using (overdrive, boost, etc...)?
For reference, I use a Maz 18 through a 2x10 for gigs (Classic/Current Rock)... I am happy with it, but thought I might venture into Z-Wreck territory...
Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.
Cheers, Mike

Awesome amp. A nice boost pedal is all I need.

LP is not my main axe, but it sounds great through the Wreck.
I haven't used pedals much with the amp so far. I've relied on different knob settings and using an Air Brake to control the output volume.
I think benttop (steve) has a sound clip of his LP through the Wreck. It's probably accessible by clicking on a link in his signature.

Great Question! For me- I have a harder time getting the tone I want to hear with my Les Paul out of the Z Wreck than with my Tele or Strat. Not saying I can't get a great sound with the LP, just way easier with single coils. I've been using the Air Brake with great results recently, but any good OD pedal works nice too. KoT, Clark Gainster, ZenDrive...oh...and the Beano Boost sounds amazing! For me..again, it's easier to get a great LP sound with my Maz Jr Nr...and if I played a LP exclusively...I'd be using a Remedy into 2 Golds...no doubt.

Thanks for the replies!
I have an airbrake, so that is a good thing since most of you have mentioned an attenuator.
Also, I just did a show on Friday with the trusty Maz and I found myself questioning the decision to add a Z-Wreck to the herd. That being said, I still want a Wreck! I think it would be tone heaven, and I have also been gasing for a 2x12 cab lately so I could scratch that itch with the Z-Wreck as well.
By the way, I have a Remedy, but never bonded with it ( I have it for sale locally to fund the Z-Wreck). I am realizing that maybe a different cab might have been the answer with the Remedy (2x12 with golds or maybe Greenbacks?).
BTW, thanks for the link Steve but I can't open it on my computer for some reason...which is a shame because I would love to hear it!
Thanks again guys, and I will post pics if I decide to get the Z-Wreck.

The MAZ is wonderful; I hope to always have one. The ZW is very different, imo. There's a "silveriness" to the sound and a touch sensitivity that is something else.

The Z Wreck has made me love telecasters...I had a R8 but got rid of it...it sounded good in the wreck but IMO not as nice as a telecaster or strat does. I don't use anything besides a delay and a tubescreamer as pedals thru the amp...ocassionally i use a boost pedal in some situations. I find this amp makes you fight for your tone...by saying that i mean, it picks up every little nuance and flaws in your playing...it hides nothing! no mercy...lol cheers! I have some videos posted on youtube ...just search jashobbsie or jason hobbs z wreck

Yep. I love the sound of my R8 through the Wreck, but my Tele is otherworldly. That amp is everything a Tele amp ought to be.

Thanks ! I thought the Weck was a great Teli and Strat amp and not like the Remedy with a Les Paul. Good to know. G A S is relieved.

The Wreck is great with any guitar, but a good LP + Remedy is magic too. Think I've heard that somewhere (Like from Steve (benttop) and I agree 100%.)

I am using a Les Paul through my Z Wreck, but it's a Les Paul Deluxe so has minihumbuckers. The Z Wreck really brings the best out of those pickups (which are already really good).

I have a series/parallel push/pull pot on my R0. With the bridge pickup in parallel it gets very close to a strat sound through the Z-wreck. It brightens the guitar up so much I actually roll the tone back at times.

Cheers, Mike Les Paul + Z-Wreck = ;D iirc, T-rock was playin' a 57ri Goldtop thru Z-Wreck @ Z-fest 2010 and it sounded phenomenal for slightly different perspective, I was fortunate enough to get some play-time with my ES-339 thru the 'Wreck, no effects, and using the 'Comfort' setting ..... a wonderful combination - definitely sparked my interest/lust/g.a.s. ...... ;D ;D cheers always, Joel

The more I play my Les Paul through my 'Wreck....the better it sounds. It adds a bit more sparkle to the top than other amps.... My Tele's are other worldly-

The first thing I plugged into my buddy's Wreck was an R0 with WCR's and I was blown away. No pedals needed here and the only other thing in the circuit was his Aracom to tame the volume. This amp is unreal!

With my LP (57RI VOS Deluxe Black Beauty with burstbuckers) I don't need any pedals other than a boost for solos. For the Tele and Strat I just added a Timmy to my board, which works great.
