Hey everyone! I have a Route 66 and I was at a gig last night and towards the end of the set my amp went dead and had no sound. Power was still on, all the tubes were all lit and the fuse was not blown. Has anyone experienced this with their route 66. I'm fairly new to tubes and have little experience and have been reading up on tubes over the last year but i'm still new to them. Any trouble shooting tips or ideas on what it might be? Thanks for the help in advanced!!

Just because the tubes are lit, doesn't mean that they're not fried. At this point, it sounds like it could be either the Rectifier tube, the power tubes, or a fuse. A Rec tube going bad will almost always fry the fuse. And often, a rec tube going bad can take out the power tubes too. At this point, if you want to get back up and running fast, I'd buy a new rec tube, two new power tubes and put in a new fuse. Then at your leisure, find out if the other tubes are bad. And if you're a regularly gigging musician, you might want to find a spot in your gig bag for an emergency set of tubes and fuses. Good places for tubes are: www.kcanostubes.com/www.dougstubes.com/Make sure you get your power tubes 'matched'...and if you can afford it, get a NOS rec tube. They last longer.

+1 wh@ John said.
As far as trouble shooting goes tube glow really means nothing.

A multimeter is a must have, IMO. Do not trust a visual inspection on fuses. Have you seen the FAQ on the Dr Z site? It has a bare bones troubleshooting list to get you started.
and be careful not to kill yourself by becoming a short to ground

Thanks guys I really appreciate it and I think i'm on the right track... I tried a new rectifier and it didn't fix the problem but I just tried the FAQ trouble shooting and I'm thinking it's my power tubes... I think they're red plating but I'm not for certain. I know what red plating is but I'm just not quite sure if they're doing it. Does anyone happen to have any pics or can explain to me how bad it'll be if they're really red plating? Thanks again guys! I love this forum!

power tube failure will do it, unfortunately, i have no pics to show you redplates. here's a good you tube vid:
best comparison is a toaster filament, kind of looks like that. plates should be gray or black typically.

The plates will burn bright red or orange. It can be accompanied by a loud hum or even crackling sound.
