Howdy,
Most '66 users (And Z owners in general) seem to prefer "British" voiced speakers for thier '66 amps, be they Ceramic or AlNiCo. Have any of you '66 owners tried "American" voiced AlNiCo speakers with your '66? I'm thinking of Weber's popular 12A125A*, for example..
*It's considered a "tweed" speaker and seems like an attractive alternative to the more common Brit-flavored speakers used by '66 owners.

I'm using a Weber Blue Pup with my Z28 - does that count? Sorry if it's not relevant or helpful

If you're thinkin' about Webers, get a 4x10 cab and throw a mix of 10A100/10F100's and 10A125/10F125's in there (1 of each.. I mean, it's only money, right?). I believe you'd find yourself in Fender Bassman heaven with those speakers and your KT66's smokin'.
...of course you'd probably also find yourself deaf soon thereafter.

+1 for the Red,White, and Blues.....it has a noticeably "American" voicing.

Howdy, Basemententhusiast: You have a great Idea there, but I was thinking 1x12, LOL. Going deaf could be fun, come to think of it..

Can I do it until I need glasses? Oops, I mean hearing aid.
Funny, in a deadly serious way of laughing in the face of grim reality sort of way funny.

Jensen P12N That's exactly what I call it, an American voiced Celestion Gold

Then, in that case, I'd second the Eminence RW&B--very nice speaker. It's got just a tad bit of high-end rolloff, or "blanket over the amp" thing, but not in a bad way. Full sound, tight low end (tight, but not painfully firm like many high-power Jensens) and a playful "bouncy" feel. Think Vintage 30, minus any bad spiky stuff, plus an American accent. I've found it to be very versatile, in that it works well with whatever amp I've put through it. PS. The P12N might indeed be the "American" Celestion gold, but I think the RW&B might have more body at higher volume. Just my $0.02. PPS. Crap, I didn't notice that you asked for an "'American' voiced AlNiCo speaker." Then yes.. go for the P12N or, better yet, a 50W Weber 12A150 with light dope.

Without a doubt Tone Tubby Alnico 12's. I have a pair and it is utopia!

I really like the Weber 12A150A's. This is the speaker that is used in the Fender Reissue '57 Low Power Tweed Twin.
