Hey guys. I'm new to this forum, but not new to the Z. I got a Ghia years ago...I think it was shortly after they were introduced. It's been through a Marshall 4x10, to a Z-Best 2x12, and now I'm thinking about another change. I'm considering picking up a 1x12 open back with a Celestion Blue in it. I guess my question is whether or not anybody has any experience with this set up? Anybody who knows more than I do that would care to comment on how the Ghia will match with the Blue and how different my tone will be with that vs the Z-Best?
For the record, I LOVE my Z-Best, but I'm looking for something different and smaller so I can fit a sub in my Jeep. Plus I'd like to get it to break up a little earlier (I've tried tons of tube combinations, too)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It works fine to use the CG with a Blue. The power rating is an almost perfect match. The Blue will break up a little sooner than other speakers but has a warm chime to it and not a ton of bass.

This is a recurring theme...
Very nice combination, one of the nicest speakers with the ghia. Very safe for the blue, noone has "blown" one as far as I know.

I guess I'll have to chime in here also about the Celestion Blue. I've never been happier than with that combination of amp and speaker. I have 5 Zs, but the Ghia with the Blue is my "go to " amp.

Thanks to all for the input. Can anybody tell me how my tone will be different with the Blue in a single 12 vs my Z Best? I assume I will lose a lot of bottom end...

You will find there is less volume/headroom and bottom with the blue, and it will be much more compressed compared to the Zbest.

What would be the difference between a Weber Blue Dog and a Silver Bell with the Carmen Ghia.

What would be the difference between a Weber Blue Dog and a Silver Bell with the Carmen Ghia. I have 50 watt ceramic BD and SB in separate 1x12 cabs and have played my Ghia through them separately and hooked together in parallel. They are not yet completely broken in but my impressions are that the SB is smoother in the highs with more pronounced lows. The BD is a bit brighter, has more pronounced mids and a "chime" that the SB lacks. Now that I have experimanted with them for 5 months or so, if I'm using them individually I tend to leave the SB hooked to the Z-28 and the BD hooked to the Ghia. Hooked together, they are a wonderful combination as each speaker's strong points fill in the gaps of the other.

This may be the best amp in the universe .... a 1x12 Ghia and Vox Blue combo. Then again .... that is subjective and personal taste

What would be the difference between a Weber Blue Dog and a Silver Bell with the Carmen Ghia. Weber is a bit different. Silver Celestion bulldog and Vox blue are the same speaker ... just different color paint .... maybe the best speaker ever made for guitar in the history of the cosmos.
