Does anyone know? Cause I sure don't. I think I miss it more than any amp I have sold off. damn G.A.S. I know everyone loves it dirty sound but I thought the clean was excellent.

I'm sure there are a lot of us on here who have parted with an amp , guitar or other piece of gear only to realise afterwards that it was a bad mistake Another of life's lessons learned and take comfort in knowing it was not the only one and another somewhere has your name on it ;D

I sold my Maz and got an old Twin. Now I have another Maz so I am glad to have one again. I sold my Ghia and got an early silverface Deluxe but I miss the Ghia. It just works for a lot of my smaller gigs so well. If my bass player wasn't so dang loud I could use a Ghia even more. damn bass players.

Bass players can be a problem. Sometimes that low rumble isn't really heard but it can be very loud sucks all the dynamics out of the band. Everybody plays louder but nobody really knows why.

I know everyone loves it dirty sound but I thought the clean was excellent. I love the "clean" sound of the Ghia, too. I find that the Ghia is so loud that I can't get the volume up to the "dirty" sound level without family and neighbors killing me.

I always get to thinking there is something better out there and I forget how god what I have is. I like my deluxe but I really mis the Ghia more than any amp I have sold. I can't figure out what to sell to get one back. I don't want to part with the Deluxe either. Maybe my sf twin? Anyone up for a trade?

At least one good thing about owning all these Z's Curt is the fact that you can give us first hand road testing experience of what how the models compare to each other and when your sick of them let us all have the chance to buy them before they go on Evil bay! Hint, hint..............red Z28 in about 8 or so weeks ready for my 38th birthday present from my fiance'

I found something I like a lot here ;D I'll gig her tomorrow and see how it works. I set the amp pretty bright and roll the tone on the guitar WAY back.

Curt, Thats quite a change from the V30 you used to use with the Z28 isnt it? Oh yes, a V30 was all I had back then, the greenback is really nice with the Z/28, I needed to take the dB down a bit and the greenie does it great, I found with the volume @ 3:00, treb @ 1:30 and the bass @ 10:00 it get's the grind with the guit wide open and a nice spanky clean with the guit rolled back, also have to keep the tone knob rolled way back. Sure is a fun setting for home jamming, we'll see at the gig tomorrow. I tried; V30, cele blue, Red Fang, Wizard, G12H, Texas heat and for me the Greenback is the one for the Z/28.

When I first got my Z28, I dont think it was performing up to its potential...the dealer had realized it had a bad 6v6 and just threw some tubes in there, most likely without biasing. I might have liked the greenback more had the amp been setup properly. Im surprised youre having to keep the tone knob rolled back w/the greenback.

For those of you who have owned 3 to 5 examples of one amp model, I'd like to know what were the sonic variances.
?? ;D

For those of you who have owned 3 to 5 examples of one amp model, I'd like to know what were the sonic variances. ?? ;D Very similar sonically for my Route 66's. I think most of the real differences were in the tubes. You can really hear tube changes in the Route. As far as the amps go, they are very consistant. All amps will have slight changes just due to the variance in parts tolerance, but Doc keeps it well reigned in.

i am on my 3rd ghia,, another episode convinced me i was back in the proper waters so to speak,, cheap tube replacement and fine tone,,, i barely turned the volume of the amp on, going thru a 2/12 cab with a celestion g12h30 and v30, plugged in an old nick greer peacemaker pedal, then into a keeley comp,, low volume killer tone,, now when i hook the airbrake i have ordered, i bet i can forget about all the other amps in the past.. just about there... great clean tone too
