I recently got my 1st Z - a Maz Sr 2x12. I love the amp! Naturally, I'm already thinking about my 2nd Z I've heard so many great things about the Ghia - I think I need one. It will be a few months before I have the money so I have some time to think about it. Is there any way you guys can describe the difference in sound between the 1x12 and the 2x10? Also, what is the difference in weight? My Maz weighs a ton... it would be nice to have a 2nd Z that's eaiser to tote around Thanks Jay

They both sound great! The 2x10 sounds really sweet and is noticably brighter than the 1x12. The 10's also sound tighter than the 1x12', but the 1x12 is warmer than the 2x10. Honestly, I don't think it matters which you choose, because the amazing tone knob will allow you to adjust the brightness anyway. The 2x10 is a bit heavier than the 1x12 - but I would bet they both weigh substantially less then a 2x12.

The 1x12 Vintage 30 sounds great with the Ghia. It feel like a bigger, and agree warmer sound with 12's.

1x12 should bring you a warmer sound. 2x10 should bring some punch into the picture
Carmen Ghia + either cab = tonal happiness ;D

Yep - I'd say it's good to have both configurations. I use my ghia head with my zbest & 2x10 cab. Right now when I'm just jamming at home I sometimes just play the top speaker in the zbest - one of these days I'm gonna hook one of those cool jacks in where I can play one or both. Anyway, Ideally I'd like to have a 1x12, 2x12 & 2x10. It's nice to have the options to fit whatever gig or recorded sound your going for.

My Ghia is a combo with one Vintage 30. I think it sounds amazing. Very sparkley on the clean settings but gets really warm and thick when cranked. I usually find the Vintage 30's can be a little harsh on the ears with other amps, but I don't get any of that with the Ghia, especially now that the speaker is broken in some. The Ghia/V-30 make a perfect match in my book.

Sometimes I setup my 2x10 Ghia with an external 1x12 cab - so you get the tight brightness of the Z 10's and the warmth of a 1x12" together. Big, Full sound!

This is a hard call. They are both pretty spectacular.
One of the "bad" things about the Carmen Ghia is that it is NOT speaker picky. When an amp is speaker picky life is easier as at times there can be just one or two great options. Unfortunately, with the CG any speaker sounds great and has it's own advantages so you end up with a inexpensive amp in a manner of speaking and $5000 worth of cabs!
On the plus side though ... cabs that you did not care for and could not unload without incurring a big financial loss may find the Carmen Ghia their salvation.

I really like running a 2x10 cab and a 1x12 cab at the same time. It is my set up of choice now for the CG and the Maz 18. Just get a good "y" cable and run out of the 4 ohm jack. Older CG's with only the 8 ohm output will not be able to do this.

What about a cab with one 12" and one 10"? BW uses one with his Ghia. Food for thought.

Just tossing this out there, but what about a full stack - 2 4x12s. The sublty/simplicity of a Ghia head setting atop an arena rock god stack-o-speakers. Oh yeah! ;D

Recently i hooked up my Ghia head to my Z 2x10 cab and that's the deal for me! I was even thinking I'd sell the Ghia but now I'm into it again.

Hmmmm... you just made things way more difficult for me! I think I want a 1x12 combo. Since I got my Maz Sr, I am glad to still have my DRRI because it's so light and small to grab and head to jams... and it's still plenty loud. I'll definitely use the Maz for gigs though. I figure if I get a nice, (fairly) light Ghia, I'll have the best of both worlds. I should be able to get 1/2 the Ghia money with the sale of the DRRI... now, which kid do I sell for the rest?

I'm in the process of getting a Carmen Ghia head. Have any of you guys played on through the Dr.'s 2x10 open back cab? I've got two NIB Celestions G12Ms that I could keep and build a cab for them or sell them and just get the 2x10. I also have a Z-Best, so that already has the 2x12 thing more than covered. Any input will be appreciated.
