Hey guys, Well, I think I'm going to be putting my 66 up for sale. Some of you may remember I bought it a little over a year ago. We've been hit pretty hard by some recent bills and I can't justify keeping this amp. Honestly, I don't play it that much so it needs to go. It is a 2000 model year 66 in good-excellent condition. Tubes were replaced right before I bought it so they have 1.5 years on them and very little play time at all....less than 3 hours I'd say. It has a small tear in the tolex on the back which has been touched up so it isn't visible unless you really get up on the amp. It also has 2 small impressions in the tolex and some slight scuffing on the metal corners. I'm also selling my Z-best cabinet loaded with the OEM celestions. It is in excellent condition except for one small impression on the front (again not visible unless you're looking for it) and some slight scuffing on the metal corners. Can you help me get a ball park price? I've had someone offer me $855 for both and he's local but that's all I have to go on. There aren't too many 2000s out there being sold to help me gauge what's fair. What do you guys think? PICS:

Maybe $850 for the head if you are in a "hurry" to move it but I would get another $400 for the cab! JMO. Merks

I agree with Merks. Unless you are in a hurry $855 for the head maybe but not for the whole package. Mass Street Music has an early model blonde ZBest cabinet for $600 right now.

Sorry to hear about the bad times. A 2000 should go for over $1000 imho. It's the interstate model and some prefer them over current models, ymmv. The Z-best should be good for between $400-$500, again imho.
Good luck and k for you and your family.

Thank you for your help! I did sell the whole rig and didn't get quite what I was hoping for it but it also wasn't generating too much local interest either. Got the bills paid and now it's time to start saving for the next Z. I was bummed to see it go but it was also satisfying to pay the bills. The wife is happy and you know how that goes Make her happy now and she'll be more open to another Z later on . . . at least that's what I'm hoping. ;D

No less than a grand for any Z head over 32 watts.
I hate selling stuff to pay bills. It always bites me in the end. I sell the stuff, the bills are still there. What's the point. Unless the amount from a sale is going to eliminate one or two of my debts, forget it.

Unless the amount from a sale is going to eliminate one or two of my debts, forget it. I don't like selling gear to pay bills either. It really sucks. I guess everyone is different though. You do what you have to. I've found that circumstances and the people involved (family members) can dictate a lot towards what choices are available to a guy.
