Hi
I've seen some posts from benttop using the G-system in the Stingray's loops. I have a Maz 18 JR (no fx loop) and was wondering is anyone has had any luck using the tc g-system into the front of the amp (vs the loop)...?

Well I just yanked my GFX (the processor) out of the rack and put it back in the pedal to try to go this way, and here's what I found. With a really nice clean pristine amp, it works great. But as soon as you get any gain going, you start having noise problems. The GFX is really designed to be a loop-based processor, so when you're in front of the amp, the noise levels aren't ideal. That said, with some judicious gain structuring and use of the gate, you can get it usable, but you can expect that to be a fairly tedious process of finding the right combination of input gain, output level, noise gate settings, and preset levels. Lotta lotta level adjustments to make it right. After pulling it out of my rack and trying this with the RXES, I've decided to put it back in the rack and only use it with my Stingray. Not that I couldn't but I'm allergic to all that work of trying to make it perfect when I'm not certain that I can get there. If you haven't already discovered it, there is a huge long thread on TGP (over 60 pages) about this pedal at www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=88835. There is a firmware update pending, and an editor for the PC that is also pending. If I had the editor, I might be more willing to tackle this setup at this point. So maybe I'll still go this way later when the editor appears.

Thanks for the tgp link - massive thread!
Still it seems like most folks are opting to go in through the fx loops. Still I like to keep my Maz relatively clean. So this may work for me - also I'm not a big fan of gates in general (except on drums). Is the noise a big problem with he gate off? Are there certain effects (other than compressor) that generate the noise or is it the unit on a whole (a/d/a converters)?
Practical use question: Often times I'll pepper a song section with a bit of wah and then quickly turn off when coming to a new part. Obviously this is easy with a traditional wah pedal. However, when using the expression pedal for wah and using the auto-detect movement to turn it on, how quickly does the wah turn off when not moving the pedal?
