Does anyone have any tips? I just cant get my AC to sound good with my MazJr... I played it through a friends BadCat, and it douns great! It also sounds good with my twin... but i just cant seem to get it to sound good with Maz18. The highs are really harsh, and the bass is kinda flabby.
I really thinking about selling it and getting a Fulldrive 2. Ah... but it sounds so good on the Xotic videos on their website.
Paul G. I know you use one with your Maz, am I correct?

Yes, I use one with my Maz and Ghia. Can I ask what your settings are on the pedal and settings on the amp?

I thought the AC sounded better with Fender style amps.

The AC sounds awesome with anything. Here are my settings:
Volume - Noon Bass - Noon Gain - 2pm Treble 11am to noon
Hope that helps.

I Just got an AC pedal and am not liking the sound right off the bat... I already have a BB preamp and that sounds killer - very Marshall-esque. Sort of a Jeff Beck, early VH, and AC/DC vibe on the lower gain settings (around 9:00). What I really like about that is when the treble and bass are noon (center detent - and supposedly flat). There is really very little coloration going on. But the AC is a different story. When the tone is noon-ed, it sounds like some one threw a blanket over my amp. Very 'woolly' sounding. Tweaking the tone a bit does help considerably but I can't help feeling I'm messing with the original sound of the guitar and amp too much.
Paul G - do you find this with your AC?

I just picked one up and I too noticed that it seems like you have to crank the treble control. I am not used to that with a strat through a Maz Jr. I think I will persevere and keep it for a while just in case I find a way to make it work.

Huh, I never felt that I needed to crank the treble on the AC when I played it at the store. I was demoing through a DR ri, and it seemed to have plenty of highs.
Through an amp like my Stang Ray, I'm sure it would NOT be lacking highs. I've never played a MAZ.

I think it's just not voiced for me. Dang it! I wanted to like it.

Seems like the AC works better with mid-scooped type amps - I'm liking the BB much more with the Maz. It seems to have that great high-end transparency that everyone craves. More so than my Maxon OD-9 (AM silver mod) - and Baber LTD SR. However, there is a very close resemblance of the BB to the Barber Direct Drive in 'harmonics mode' (tone knob pulled out). The BB still has a bit more of that transparent vibe. But at almost half the price, the DD makes an excellent backup.

RC and BB are just awesome. ;D AC is a great pedal for mild to moderate gain.
