Loaded with a celestion Blue..........mmmmh good! This is one LOUD amp! It's not what I expected in terms of low level crunch. You gotta turn it up pretty loud to get it to sizzle. The clean, however, has unexpectedly blown me away! At 9 0clock with your guitar volume backed off a little, you have the most beautiful sustaining clean tone I have ever heard. Thanks DOC for Z #3!

It's a great platform for pedals if you run them, too. My Ghia board is real straightforward and I seldon run above 9:00... Franklin mod SD-1 for low level drive and grit, Clark Gainster at noon across the top for medium gain, and a Crunch Box for high gain. The SD-1 can goose either of the others for additional whoopa$$. Add a tuner and volume boost and I can play any gig at all.
The Ghia is a beast. It looks like you've got yourself a perfect set up. It will make you VERY happy.

Thanks Doc! I went with your recommendation to some of the other members and their Giahs when I purchased the "blue". I'd say the blue is totally worth the cost as well.......it's not too much of anything and just enough of everything...............
Of course turning the giah up to 12 oclock produces some amazing "scream".......but, the cleans...........with my trex roomate, tele, I just sat there for 3 hours and played the most delicate and tasty blues licks. I was really into bending and sustaining notes. The sustain is forever. Sooooooo touch sensitive.
man..................I love my Z's.

Nice James! It's good to hear you're enjoying the ghia. I thought you would. Nice looking rig which I'm sure sounds every bit as good as it looks!!! The Ghia's a great lil amp that made another sound man in Boise a believer last Thursday night. So far every sound man has liked the ghia. They always ask... what kind of amp is it! ;D

Drew,
Thanks for your help in describing the Giah to me! It seems to me to be the amp that all z offianodos should have in their "quiver".

Hey contrats! Yeah, the Ghia is a remarkable little amp. Folks seem to thing 18 watts isn't enough, but yes, the amp set between 9am and 10am is remarkably loud.
So, what I do, is set a little verb (from my dynaverb), turn on my AC booster (with just the right settings), vol on the ghia around 9am and then use the volume on the guitar to clean or go to crunch

Cool...............this seems to be what works for me as well. I was wondering why I didn't want to turn the volume up past noon. Not that noon doesn't rock, but, I think the sweet spot for me is 9 to 10:30........tone around noonish....
I really like how this amp takes a pedal like the AC........It's the first time I have found myself using a pedal the whole time and working from the guitar volume. So simple!

Hey, glad you're liking the Ghia. Amazing little amp. I'm running mine through a single Vintage 30 right now, but I can't wait to try it out with my open back 2x12 with Blues as soon as it comes in. Enjoy!

Congrats on the amp.
The speaker cab is one of Jeff Earl's .... great cabs.
As a side note ... Buddy Whittington will be at the Canyon Club in Agoura CA on 2/24. Dave Mason will also be playing. Buddy will be doing the show with his own Carmen Ghia so if anybody ever thought that 18 or so watts is not enough, or wonder how the Ghia cuts through a mix this would be a great chance to see how the Ghia performs with a great plater as the driver.
