I've had my Timmy for a few weeks now and I'm really loving it. I've been using it in so many different ways - clean boost, slightly dirty, and saturated overdrive. I'd like to know what other OD you've had success using as a lead boost with it. I have the Timmy set to a slight breakup (a la Little Wing) and would like a pedal to kick in for solos that will add both volume and gain. It will be used with a Ghia and Tele or P90 Collings electric.
I'm going to start experimenting with my Analogman KOT for this, but I'm thinking that I'll only need one side of the KOT if the Timmy covers my clean boost and low-gain needs. Any suggestions are appreciated - anywhere from Tubescreamers to fuzzes and anything in between. Thanks!

When I had my OCD, I had my Tim in front of it and had some sweet results.

The Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive stacks very well with a Timmy.

Thanks, I've got some ideas to start with. I've only played the OCD of the 3 mentioned and it was a long time ago. I was impressed with it - seemed very versatile and had a nice amount of gain on tap. I haven't tried the Xotic BB though I've been wanting to for quite some time. It's been a consistent pleaser. The MP Sweet Honey OD looks great, too - is that a TS type pedal or an original design?

The Sweet Honey doesn't sound like a Tubescreamer,,,It's very brilliant and detailed. It does respond to your pick attack well, and volume knob changes. I use a Timmy as well, and my second OD is the Danelectro Transparent Overdrive. I use it for thicker, more distorted tone. I think it's a great match. I also think the Zendrive works great alongside of it.....Good luck !

Isnt the Danelectro a rip off of the Timmy?

I like to use a low-gainer in front of the Timmy. Zendrive works great, or a Barber LTD or SHOD: OCD or BB at lower settings would be okay, too. The Timmy really shines as a dirty/volume/treble boost after your main OD.

Isnt the Danelectro a rip off of the Timmy? Supposedly it is a rip off, but it actually has more gain and mids then the Timmy. So yea it's similar, but makes a good alternative. they are highly underrated. I think folks just think they can't possibly be any good, cause they are so in-expensive. Same thing with the Bad Monkey. Another good choice to go along side your Timmy, without breaking the bank.

I'll second the Bad Monkey Frankie....it's a good pedal for the money! I had a couple and really liked them!

Bad Monkey - I can't believe I haven't tried one of those yet! Maybe it's because I hate going to GC unless its an emergency?

It seems that the stacking order that I'm thinking of going is the reverse of most. In my mind I was going Guitar>Timmy>2nd OD>Amp, but hadn't thought of reversing the order of the Timmy. Do you find that you're able to boost volume as well as gain in this configuration? Mmantle, I'd love to hear a Sunface paired w/ a Timmy - Analogman makes some great stuff and a fuzz is in the not to distant future for me.

The Timmy or Tim take pedals amazing. You can get a nice amount of boost from the tim/timmy or set it so the volume stays the same.. I usually have a bit of boost.
I usually set my Tim so that it gives me a touch of boost and a little bit of gain, then I run my BB or my Sunface into the pedal for heavier stuff. Theres also the option of the Tim's boost channel as well for extra gain. The sunface nkt is a great pedal. It is a little dark, especially with humbuckers, so I use the tim to take away a bit of bass sometimes, and it helps the pedal cut through better.

Every O/D I've tried paired with Timmy sounds great. Clark Gainster, Eternity, KoT, Beano Boost, Brown Sound, ZenDrive...but my favorite combo is the Flying Dragon after Timmy. They seem to pair magically.

What's great about Timmy-as-boost is that you can use it a straight volume boost (it gets loud, yes), or as a dirty boost, or as a treble boost, etc. I like it as a dirty/treble boost after an OD, as I said--it really lets you cut through the mix, and the added gain gives you more sustain, obviously. It's a nice sounding dirty, too, when used with other pedals, though I always found it a bit thin by itself.
